It's a Party at the Park when the Kernels return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Saturday, August 20th to open a seven game home stand. Here's what you can expect over the next seven games:
August 20-23 vs. Peoria
The Kernels open a seven game home stand on Saturday, August 20th with four games against the Peoria Chiefs, the Midwest League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Wear your Hawaiian shirts and flip-flops as its Jimmy Buffett Night on Saturday. The Kernels will be wearing special jerseys that will be sold during the game via a silent auction. Enjoy margaritas and other tropical drinks on the concourse during the game. And after the game, enjoy the sounds of the Cedar Island Band and fireworks, presented by Genencor with media sponsor Mix 96.5 FM. Note the special start time - 5:05 pm with the gates opening at 4:00 pm. Jimmy Buffett Night with post-game fireworks by Genencor is one of the toughest tickets to get so order early for the best seats. Once again, gates open at 4:00 pm with first pitch between the Kernels and Chiefs set for 5:05 pm.
The Kernels and Building Pros of Eastern Iowa have teamed up to help HACAP restock its 54 emergency food pantries in Easter Iowa. During each Kernels game, August 21-25, cash and non-perishable food donations will be collected to help collect and distribute over 250,000 pounds of food to local families in need. You can help by purchasing tickets to these games and then brining food or cash donations to those games you attend.
On Sunday, August 21st, the Kernels recognize all the 1,000 Minute Readers who took part in the 13th Annual Kernels Summer Reading Program, presented by Toyota Financial Services, Learning Ladder, The Gazette and Rockwell Collins with a pre-game ceremony. It's also a 104.5 KDAT Sunday Family Day where fans can get autographs from the Kernels on the concourse from 1:20 to 1:40 pm; enjoy the balloon artistry of Papa Balloon and face painting by Funny Face Designs by Lori; meet storybook princess Cinderella with Prince Charming, presented by Glass Slipper Entertainment; and run the bases and play catch in the outfield after the game, thanks to Wickwire Chiropractic and Wellness Center. Gates open at 1:00 pm and first pitch between the Kernels and Chiefs is set for 2:05 pm.
The Kernels and Chiefs continue their four game set on Monday, August 22nd at 6:35 pm. Operation Restock HACAP continues, so bring a cash or non-perishable food donation to the game. Gates open at 5:30 pm.
It's a Z 102.9 Two Dollar Tuesday when the Kernels take on Peoria at 6:35 pm. Regular hot dogs, peanuts, pretzels, bottled soda and water and 12 oz. draft beer are $2 all game. It's also a KRAFT Singles Tuesday Night Tickets night. Bring your KRAFT Singles package wrapper to the Kernels Ticket Office for a buy one ticket, get one free offer from KRAFT Singles. Operation Restock HACAP continues, so bring a cash or non-perishable food donation to the game. Gates open at 5:30 pm.
August 24-26 vs. Clinton
The Kernels continue the home stand on Wednesday, August 24th with three games against the Clinton LumberKings, the Midwest League Affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Operation Restock HACAP continues, so bring a cash or non-perishable food donation to the game. Gates open at 5:30 pm with first pitch between the Kernels and LumberKings set for 6:35 pm.
Bring your thirst to the ballpark on Thursday, August 25th for 100.7 The Fox Thirsty Thursday where 12 oz. draft beer is $1.50 and bottled soda and water is $2. Make sure to tip The Fox DJ's that are serving beer at the special stand on the concourse as their tips will be donated to a local charity. It's the final night to collect donations for Operation Restock HACAP, so bring a cash or non-perishable food donation to the game. First pitch between the Kernels and Clinton is set for 6:35 pm with the gates opening at 5:30 pm.
The Kernels and LumberKings wrap up their three game set on Friday, August 26th. It's a 98.1 KHAK Two for One Beer Friday. Buy one 16 oz. draft beer at the regular price and get one free. The Kernels welcome students, family and staff from All-Saints School and Norway Elementary to the stadium for their night at the ballpark. Gates open at 5:30 pm - first pitch is set for 6:35 pm.

Tickets for all Kernel home games are available on-line at www.kernels.com ; in person at the Kernels Ticket Office, or by calling 896-7560 during Ticket Office Hours. The Kernels Ticket Office is open from 10 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday and from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The ticket office is closed on Sunday, but opens at 11 am on Kernel Sunday Home games.
