Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA -The Sacramento River Cats (24-28) fell to the Albuquerque Isotopes (28-24) by a final score of 4-2 on a sunny Memorial Day at Raley Field. San Francisco Giants' second baseman Joe Panik began the rehab process of recovering from left thumb surgery, finishing 1-for-2 with a single, a walk, and a run scored.

For the first time in this series the River Cats scored in the first inning after Panik crossed the plate on a sacrifice lineout by Ryder Jones. Chase d'Arnaud added a triple in the sixth inning and a solo home run in the ninth to cut the deficit to two in the ninth.

After picking up a loss in a relief appearance on May 25, right-handed pitcher Jose Flores rebounded by pitching five innings of two-hit ball and allowed just one run. He was asked to start the game on short notice after the scheduled starter, right-hander Dereck Rodriguez, was called up by San Francisco before the game.

The River Cats are back in action tomorrow in the final game of the series with the Albuquerque Isotopes. Right-hander Casey Kelly (4-4, 6.26) takes the mound for Sacramento and Albuquerque will counter with righty Yency Almonte (0-2, 6.30). First pitch is set for 12:05 p.m. Catch all of the action live online at rivercats.com, on the MiLB First Pitch app, and on the air on Money 105.5 FM beginning at 7:00 p.m. (PT).
