Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - As has been the case for most of the 2018 season, the Salt Lake Bees got run support via the long ball en route to a victory, this time in a 7-2 win over the Reno Aces. With blasts by Matt Thaiss and Francisco Arcia, it was the 24th game this season the Bees belted multiple dingers.

The game began after a hour-long rain delay with Jose Suarez making his Triple-A debut on the mound for Salt Lake. The 20-year old from Venezuela lasted four innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out four batters. Former BYU Cougar Taylor Cole (3-0) picked up the win with two and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief. Reno's Anthony Vasquez took the loss for the Aces after allowing four runs over five innings.

Thaiss' home run came in the first to put the Bees up 1-0. Just six games into his promotion to Triple-A, Thaiss, the Angels #8 prospect according to MLB.com, has already hit three home runs, while holding an average of .385 with Salt Lake. Arcia's blast came later in the fourth to add insurance to the lead, putting the Bees up 4-1. The Bees added two more in the seventh when the Aces walked four straight batters and another score in the eighth. Salt Lake has now won five straight games, a new season-high.
