Pair of Everblades win March Plus Performer Award

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades center Vince Bellissimo and right wing Steve Saviano are the Rbk Hockey ECHL Plus Performers of the Month after finishing tied for the league plus-minus rating lead with +16 in March, the league announced today.

In his second professional season Saviano was even or better in all 13 games in March, including a season-best +5 on Mar. 31. In addition, the 24-year-old led the team during the month with 10 goals, 12 assists and 22 points.

Also in his second professional season, Bellissimo was second on the team with eight goals and 17 points in March and was even or better in all 11 games and was plus in eight of the 11 games, including +5 at Augusta on Mar. 18.

Saviano is second on the team with 45 assists, 25 power-play points and 70 points (25g-45a) in 42 games. Saviano is under contract to Lowell of the American Hockey League where he has nine points (6g-3a) in 25 games.

Selected in the fifth round (158th overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Carolina Hurricanes, Bellissimo has only played 17 games for Florida, scoring in 11 of those games including eight multiple-point games, and he has 22 points (10g-12a). The 23-year-old also played in the AHL with Lowell where he has 14 points (8g-6a) in 47 games.

The Everblades return to action tonight against the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 8:05 p.m. from the Pensacola Civic Center.
