Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that forward Steve Saviano has been placed on the 7-day injured reserve list, and defenseman Chris Lee has been activated from the 7-day IR.
Saviano, who was the ECHL Player of the Week last week, heads to the IR after suffering an injury in Florida's 3-0 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators on Tuesday night. The 24-year-old currently ranks second on the team in scoring with 70 points (25g, 45a) and will end the regular season with points in 16 of his last 18 games. In addition Saviano has notched nine points (6g, 3a) in 25 games with the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League.
The second-year pro out of the University of New Hampshire was earlier this week named the ECHL's Sportsman of the Year. During his rookie season last year the native of Reading, Massachusetts tallied 52 points in 58 Everblades games and also picked up one point in six games with Lowell.
Lee returns to the Everblades lineup after missing the last nine games. The 25-year-old originally suffered the injury in Florida's 8-2 at Augusta on March 17. Overall the native of MacTier, Ontario has collected 37 points (10g, 27a) in 50 games with the Everblades this season. A member of the 2006 American Conference All-Star team, Lee made his professional debut last season by scoring 27 points in 68 games with the Everblades, and chipped in 11 points in 15 Kelly Cup Playoff games last year.
The Everblades return to action tonight against the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 8:05 p.m. from the Pensacola Civic Center.
