Florida's Bellissimo, Saviano Named HOK Sport ECHL Plus Performer Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Florida center Vince Bellissimo and right wing Steve Saviano are the HOK Sport ECHL Plus Performers of the Month after finishing tied for the league plus-minus rating lead with +16 in March.

In his second professional season, the 24-year-old Saviano was even or better in all 13 games in March, including a season-best +5 on Mar. 31, and he led the team during the month with 10 goals, 12 assists and 22 points.

In his second professional season, the 23-year-old Bellissimo was second on the team with eight goals and 17 points in March and was even or better in all 11 games and was plus in eight of the 11 games, including +5 at Augusta on Mar. 18.

The 5-foot-8 and 180-pound Saviano is second on the team with 45 assists, 25 power-play points and 70 points (25g-45a) in 42 games. Saviano is under contract to Lowell of the American Hockey League where he has nine points (6g-3a) in 25 games.

Selected in the fifth round (158th overall) by the Florida Panthers in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Carolina Hurricanes, the 6-foot-1 and 190-pound Bellissimo has only played 17 games for Florida, scoring in 11 of those games including eight multiple-point games, and he has 22 points (10g-12a). He has also played in the AHL with Lowell where he has 14 points (8g-6a) in 47 games. In his rookie season with Florida, Saviano had 52 points (14g-38a) in 58 regular season games for and he played six games in the AHL with Lowell where he had one assist. He led the Everblades in the postseason with 14 assists and was second on the team with 18 points in 17 games, helping the Everblades reach the Kelly Cup Finals for the second year in a row.

Saviano began his professional career with Lowell of the AHL in 2004-05, registering one assist in six regular season games, and 52 points (14g-38a) in 58 regular season games and had 18 points (4g-14a) in 17 Kelly Cup Playoff games for the Everblades. Saviano had nine points (6g-3a) in 25 games with the Lock Monsters.
