Providence Bruins News Release

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, member of the American Hockey League, announced this afternoon that left wing Mark Tobin has been assigned to the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL and right wing Alexandre Imbeault has been released from his Professional Tryout Agreement. He will also report to Johnstown. With the moves, the P-Bruins now have 22 players on their roster, including 11 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders.

Imbeault, 21, joined Providence on a PTO on January 4 after notching 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 30 games for Johnstown. The rookie led the Chiefs in scoring at the time of his signing. Imbeault made his AHL debut against the Springfield Falcons on the evening he joined the P-Bruins and then recorded his first career AHL points with a goal and an assist versus the Worcester Sharks on route to being named the game's second star. Both of the winger's multiple-point efforts with Providence came at the expense of Worcester. All told, Imbeault registered six points on three goals and three assists in 12 games for the P-Bruins. He also had a minus-five rating. With Johnston, Imbeault has enjoyed seven multiple-point outings this season, including a career-high four points on a goal and three assists December 28, 2007 against the Wheeling Nailers. The career contest came just two days after being named to the American Conference Team for the 2008 Chase ECHL All-Star Game, an event he missed due to his call to Providence. Imbeault began the year by participating in training camp with the P-Bruins, scoring one goal and one assist in two games before joining the Chiefs. Before turning pro, the Montreal, Quebec, native, spent four years playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Quebec Remparts, Victoriaville Tigres and Chicoutimi Sagueneens. In his junior career, Imbeault scored 90 goals while adding 118 assists for 208 points in 245 games.

Tobin, 22, was recalled from Johnstown on December 12, 2007 after scoring 13 points, including 10 assists, and collecting 39 penalty minutes in 20 contests for the Chiefs. The winger made his AHL debut that evening against the Lowell Devils and picked up his first and only career AHL point with an assist two nights later versus the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. Since appearing in 12 games with Providence, Tobin has been scratched for the last 12. The second-year pro has been in the P-Bruins' training camp each of the last two seasons and spent his entire rookie season a year ago with the now-defunct Long Beach Ice Dogs, also of the ECHL. There, Tobin had six goals and 21 points in 44 games. In his career, the St. John's, Newfoundland, native has nine goals and 42 points, plus 74 PIM in 76 games. Prior to going pro, Tobin played four junior seasons with the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, scoring 78 goals and adding 77 assists for 155 points, along with 504 PIM in 272 games. While in Rimouski, Tobin played with current Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby. Before signing with Providence, Tobin was drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning 65th overall in the second round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
