
Bears' Gordon named Rbk/AHL Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. ... The American Hockey League announced today that Hershey Bears right wing Andrew Gordon has been named the Rbk/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending February 10, 2008. Gordon scored four goals and added three assists for seven points in three games for the Bears.
The rookie Gordon began the week with his second hat trick of the season, providing all of Hershey's offense in a 4-3 loss to Portland on Wednesday night. On Saturday, he recorded another goal and chipped in two assists in a 5-3 win at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. And Sunday, Gordon picked up an assist on the first Hershey goal in a 6-4 victory over Worcester.
In recognition of his achievement, Gordon will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Bears home game.
Gordon, 22, has totaled 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 34 games this season with Hershey to lead all Bears rookies in scoring. The native of Porters Lake, N.S., is also tied for second among all AHL rookies with his plus-15 rating this season. A 2004 draft pick by the Washington Capitals, Gordon played three seasons at St. Cloud State University and was a WCHA First Team All-Star in 2006-07.
