SAN ANTONIO (February 11, 2008) - The Phoenix Coyotes today assigned left wing Pete Vandermeer to the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), and recalled forwards Daniel Carcillo and Bill Thomas.

Vandermeer, 32, made his National Hockey League debut with the Phoenix Coyotes Sunday night, a little more than a decade after he first skated in the AHL. Vandermeer took eight shifts and was credited with two hits in Phoenix's 6-3 loss to Nashville.

Vandermeer, who has amassed 2,374 minutes in penalties - good for fifth all-time - in 494 career AHL games, is a 12th-year pro who made his AHL debut with Rochester on Feb. 4, 1998. One of six hockey playing brothers from Red Deer, Alta., Vandermeer has appeared in two Calder Cup Finals (Rochester, 1999; Hershey, 2007) and has also played for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Providence, Philadelphia, Grand Rapids, Hamilton and San Antonio.

He has recorded three assists and a team-leading 210 penalty minutes (PIM) in 21 games this season for the San Antonio Rampage.

Carcillo, 23, has recorded 12 points (5 goals, 7 assists) and a league-leading 204 penalty minutes (PIM) in 36 games with the Coyotes this season. He has also collected three points (2g, 1a) and 16 PIM in five games with San Antonio this season.

The King City, Ontario native played 18 games with the Coyotes last season after being acquired from Pittsburgh along with a third round choice in the 2008 Entry Draft in exchange for forward Georges Laraque on Feb. 27, 2007. Carcillo registered 4-3-7 and 74 PIM after making his NHL debut with the Coyotes on Mar. 3, 2007.

The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Carcillo spent two seasons with Wilkes-Barre (AHL), recording 54 points (32g, 22a) and 494 PIM in 103 games. Originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round (73rd overall) of the 2003 Entry Draft, Carcillo has recorded 19 points (9g, 10a) and 278 PIM in 54 career NHL games with the Coyotes.

Thomas, 24, has played in six games for the Coyotes this season, and has also recorded 32 points (16g, 16a) with 28 penalty minutes (PIM) in 46 games with the Rampage.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Thomas registered 14 points (8g, 6a) and two PIM in 24 games for the Coyotes last season. He also appeared in 47 games for San Antonio, recording 33 points (13g, 20a) and was selected to play in the AHL All-Star Game but was unable to participate due to a call-up to Phoenix.

Thomas made his NHL debut on Mar. 28, 2006 after signing with the Coyotes as a free agent. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native has collected 17 points (9g, 8a) in 38 career NHL games.
