Connecticut Whale News Release
The Wolf Pack extended an unbeaten-in-regulation streak to a team season-high nine straight games (6-0-2-1) this past week, by sweeping a pair of Atlantic-Division contests. The Pack wrapped up a season-high five-game homestand with a 3-1 victory over Manchester on Wednesday, and then took their second straight game in the season series with league-leading Providence Friday, winning a wild 7-5 affair in Providence. Andrew Hutchinson tallied the first hat trick ever by a Wolf Pack defenseman in that game, and also became the first Pack player ever to score three power-play goals in a single period (second period). The Wolf Pack rang up five power-play goals in a span of 4:52 in the second frame, setting franchise records for the fastest five goals ever by the Wolf Pack and for most power-play goals in a period. The five second-period scores also tied a team mark for most goals in a period.
This week:
After enjoying both a Saturday and a Sunday off this past week, the Wolf Pack face four games in five days this week. The Pack and the Springfield Falcons play a home-and-home series, Wednesday at the XL Center (7:00) and Friday in Springfield (7:30). Then the Wolf Pack entertain the Portland Pirates on Saturday night in Hartford (7:00), before heading to Bridgeport for a GEICO Connecticut Cup battle on Sunday (4:00).
