Flames Visit Hogs Before Hosting Rampage For Two Games

Moline, IL- The Quad City Flames recorded five points last week in three home games. The team went 2-0-0-1 and improved to 24-20-2-6 on the season. The Flames suffered an AHL-high sixth shootout loss on Wednesday against the Houston Aeros. Quad City improved to 3-3-0-2 vs. Peoria on Friday with a 2-1 win. Carsen Germyn scored both goals for the Flames in the victory. Rockford was welcomed to the i wireless on Sunday afternoon with a season-high four-goal first period by the Quad City Flames. After the Flames offensive explosion in the first period, they were held scoreless for the rest of the game and earned the 4-3 victory. Grant Stevenson was held pointless as his scoring streak ended at 15-games, tying an AHL season high.

The Flames travel to Rockford on Friday night for a rematch with the IceHogs. Quad City is currently 3-1-1-0 against the struggling second place Hogs. Rockford is winless in their last five games (0-4-1-0). The Flames then host the San Antonio Rampage on Saturday and Sunday for the final times this season. The Rampage, who are on a 14-game road trip, have dropped their last two games. They travel to Peoria on Friday before visiting the i wireless center for the remainder of the weekend.

The Flames are participating in Hockey Across America Weekend on Saturday, February 16th and Sunday, February 17th. The weekend is part of a collaborative effort to grow the sport of hockey throughout the United States. Saturday is "Bring a Friend to the Rink Day" as fans are offered a free ticket for every ticket they purchase at the i wireless Center Box Office. On Sunday, fans under 18 years of age will receive complimentary tickets.

Flames Teddy Bear Toss

The Flames are hosting a teddy bear toss on Saturday, February 16th vs. San Antonio. Fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed bear to the game to toss on to the ice following the Flames first goal. The bears will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House, Bethany for Children and Families and Family Resources in the Quad Cities.

Wednesday, February 6th - Houston Aeros 3 at Quad City Flames 2 Shootout

Quad City gained a regulation point in a 3-2 shootout loss to Houston on Wednesday night at the i wireless Center. Adam Pardy and Carsen Germyn scored on the power play for the Flames while Morten Madsen and John Scott converted on the man advantage for the Aeros. The Aeros snagged a 1-0 lead on a first period power-play goal by Morten Madsen. The Houston power-play unit moved the puck deftly before Madsen took the puck down low and jammed the puck into the Quad City net for his third goal of the season. Adam Pardy tied the game at 6:30 of the second period when he sent a point shot through traffic and into the Houston net. The power-play goal knotted the score at one. Houston answered back with another man advantage marker when John Scott scored during an Aeros rush while up a man at 13:37 of the second period. Carsen Germyn tied the game in the third when he netted his seventh goal of the year by following a David Van der Gulik rebound during a Flames power play. Grant Stevenson earned the secondary assist on the Germyn goal to extend his scoring streak to 14 games. During the streak, Stevenson has 24 points on 13 goals and 11 assists. After a scoreless overtime, the teams head to a shootout for the third time in their last four meetings. Tomi Maki scored in the first round before three straight Aeros converted to seal the win for Houston.

Friday, February 8th - Peoria Rivermen 1 at Quad City Flames 2

The Flames earned their 23rd victory of the 2007-08 season thanks to a pair of Carsen Germyn markers on Friday night at the i wireless Center. Germyn provided all of the Flames offense as Quad City beat Peoria 2-1. Germyn's final tally came with just 5:32 left in regulation. Grant Stevenson tied an AHL season high in contest by recording a point for the 15th consecutive game. Peoria's Nicholas Drazenovic scored the only goal of the opening frame as he fended off a Quad City backchecker and flipped a shot over Flames netminder Curtis McElhinney for his ninth goal of the year. The Flames tied the game in the second period on a power-play goal by Carsen Germyn. Krys Kolanos passed the puck down the half wall to Grant Stevenson, who had set up in the left wing corner. Stevenson centered in front for Germyn streaking in from the point. Germyn beat Peoria's Chris Beckford-Tseu for his eighth goal of the season. His tally stood up as the only tally of the middle frame. Stevenson's assist on Germyn's goal extended his scoring streak to 15 games, which ties an AHL season high for longest scoring streak. Germyn struck again in the third to secure the win for the Flames. Warren Peters forced a turnover along the left wing wall before hitting Germyn for a game-winning one timer.

Sunday, February 10th- Rockford IceHogs 3 at Quad City Flames 4

Quad City held on for a 4-3 win over Rockford on Sunday at the i wireless Center. The Flames built a 4-0 lead in the first period before allowing a pair of power-play goals in the second and an even strength tally in the third to set up an exciting finish. Cam Cunning, Brandon Prust, David Van der Gulik and Derek Couture scored in the win while Grant Stevenson was held pointless for the first time since January 6th. Stevenson's scoring streak ended at 15 games, tied for the longest streak in the AHL this season. The Flames stormed out of the gate with four goals in the opening frame, a franchise record for goals in a first period. Cam Cunning began the onslaught when he followed his own rebound and swatted it past Rockford's Corey Crawford to give Quad City a 1-0 just 19 seconds into the first period. The Flames moved in front 2-0 when Krys Kolanos lifted a pass through the neutral zone to spring Brandon Prust on a breakaway. Prust converted the breakaway chance for his ninth goal of the season. David Van der Gulik scored shorthanded at 13:54 of the first to push the Flames lead to 3-0. Rockford netminder Wade Flaherty, on in relief of Crawford, mishandled the puck and Van der Gulik stripped him before scoring into the empty net for his 10th goal of the season. The Flames capped the period when Derek Couture scored with just 37 seconds left in the period. Couture scored when the rebound of an Eric Nystrom shot deflect to him in the slot. Couture buried the chance for his sixth goal of the year. The Hogs sliced the Flames lead in half with a pair of second period power-play goals. Kris Versteeg netted the first Rockford goal of the night at 5:06 of the second period. Niklas Hjalmarsson added a power-play tally on a blast from the left wing point at 14:59 of the second. The pair of Hogs tallies were the only markers of the middle frame, and the teams left the ice after two periods with Quad City leading 4-2. The Hogs pulled to within one goal on a third period marker by Mark Versteeg. He drove to the front of the net and jammed home his shot for his second tally of the night and 12th of the season. Following Versteeg's goal, the Hogs mounted a furious closing push that included a power play for the final 1:06 of the third period. The Flames were able to withstand the charge and skate away with a 4-3 win.
