Amerks Set For Three In Three Nights This Weekend

(Rochester, NY)... After winning their first pair of back-to-back games since late November, the Rochester Americans look forward to yet another busy weekend of American Hockey League action with three games in as many nights, two of which are against North Division opponents.

Rochester's three-game weekend kicks off on Friday, February 15th as the Amerks close out their current four-game homestand against longtime rivals, the Hershey Bears. The 7:35 p.m. contest between the two oldest members of the AHL is the second of two meetings this season and will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. In their previous meeting, the Amerks dropped a 3-1 decision to the Bears on October 20th at Giant Center. Rochester is 179-199-53 all-time against the Washington Capitals' affiliate.

Friday's contest falls on the next installment of the Amerks' Friday Night Frenzies. Fans can enjoy live music from the Spencerport Jazz Band up until gametime. As part of the festivities, all fans in attendance that night will take a home a 2007-08 Amerks team photo courtesy of Connors and Ferris. The game also falls on Zweigle's Night. The package includes four 200 Level End seats, four hot dogs, four sodas and four magazines for $60.00. The following night, Rochester will make its third trip down the I-90 Interstate to the War Memorial at Oncenter for a 7:30 p.m. matchup with the Syracuse Crunch. The game will be the second meeting in 10 days and the seventh of 12 meetings between the North Division rivals this season. The contest can be heard live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks and it will also be televised live on Time Warner SportsNet Channel 26. The Amerks are 2-4-0 this season and 78-61-15 all-time against the Crunch.

The Amerks will complete their three-game weekend on Sunday, February 17th as it hosts the defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs. The 6:05 p.m. contest will be broadcast live on Hot Talk 1280 WHTK, whtk.com and B2 networks. The game will be the seventh of eight meetings between the two teams. The game will also be the first of Rochester's second four-game homestand this month. Rochester is 5-0-1 this season and 60-44-8 all-time against the 'Dogs.

Rochester enters the week after posting a 2-1-0-0 record this past week to improve to 15-32-3-4 on the season. The Amerks have now won three of their last four games and have collected points in five of their last six.

The only loss during the three-game stint came on Wednesday night in a 3-1 decision to the Syracuse Crunch at The Blue Cross Arena. Drew Larman tipped in Marc-Andre Gragnani's shot from the point to tally the Amerks' lone goal.

Rochester's first win of the weekend came in shootout fashion, defeating the San Antonio Rampage 3-2 Saturday afternoon. Rob Globke scored a pair of third-period goals and added another in the shootout to help the Amerks rally from behind and earn first star honors. Globke first found the back of the net on a redirection of defenseman Peter Aston's shot from the point. Globke struck again with 23 seconds left in regulation to force overtime. After a scoreless overtime period, Larman and Globke each scored to give Rochester its first win since January 12th.

The Amerks rounded out the weekend last night with a 1-0 win over the Grand Rapids Griffins. Goaltender Adam Dennis made 33 saves to record his third shutout of the season and second in four games to garner first star honors. Gragnani provided the only offensive tally of the night in of the biggest defensive battles this season. The first-year defenseman turned forward is currently riding a four-game point streak (2+3) and ranks 10th among all league rookies with 31 points (6+25). He is also one of only two players to appear in all 54 games for the Amerks this season.

With his third whitewash of the season, Dennis jumped to the number seven spot in the league's top shutout leaders. Mark Mancari remains Rochester's top point-getter with 41 points (15+26), while Stefan Meyer leads the team with 16 goals. Gragnani's 31 points are good enough for second on the team.

The Florida Panthers announced today that the team has recalled right wing Rob Globke. Globke, 25, heads to the National Hockey League for the second time this season. A native of Farmington, Michigan, Globke has skated in four games with the Panthers. In 49 AHL games, Globke has registered 19 points (8+11) and 28 penalty minutes with the Amerks this season. The 6-foot-3, 201 pound University of Notre Dame graduate was Florida's second-round pick (40th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
