"Tip-A-Griffin" Tuesday at O'Charley's

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins will present their sixth annual Tip-A-Griffin fundraiser on Tuesday, Feb. 12 from 6-9 p.m. at the two local O'Charley's restaurant locations in Grand Rapids and Holland.

Nearly two dozen Griffins players, coaches and staff members will trade their sticks for food trays to serve O'Charley's patrons as waiters or bartenders. All tips and donations received by Griffins personnel and O'Charley's employees during the event will be donated to Change a Child's Life. Since 2002, Tip-A-Griffin has raised nearly $60,000 for various local charities.

Griffins personalities will be dispersed to each location as follows (subject to change):

In addition, all proceeds from the event's live auctions, silent auctions and raffle will benefit Change a Child's Life. Available items include:

- Custom-designed aprons that each member of the Griffins will wear during the event. Each apron will be autographed by the Griffins personality and made available during a live auction between 8-9 p.m.;

- Both locations will offer each of the following though silent auctions from 6-8 p.m.:

- four tickets to a Griffins game, plus dinner for four at that O'Charley's location;

- a Griffins team-autographed stick and puck combo;

- a Griffins team-autographed helmet;

- and player baskets filled with their favorite foods, memorabilia and other surprises;

- One autographed Steve Yzerman jersey (Holland location) and one autographed Henrik Zetterberg jersey (Grand Rapids location) will be awarded through the purchase of $5 raffle tickets.

Change a Child's Life supports numerous charities, nonprofit organizations and other community programs throughout West and Southwest Michigan and along the lakeshore. St. John's Home, St. Jude's, the National Juvenile Arthritis Foundation, Mentor 1, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Gilda's Club, and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society are only a few of the organizations that benefit locally from the money raised here in Michigan. Meritage Hospitality, which includes Wendy's and O'Charley's of Michigan, is committed to raising money to help kids in the communities it serves.
