Providence Bruins News Release

PROVIDENCE,RI. - The Providence Bruins fell to the Springfield Falcons in their second meeting of the month.

Tensions were high between the teams right from the start. While the gloves didn't come off, scuffles occurred. At 8:26 Springfield's Austin Madaisky scored a goal assisted by Lukas Sedlak and gave the Falcons an early lead. While, the P-Bruins had two power play opportunities during the first period, they could not capitalize. Both teams headed into the locker room with 13 shots on goal to end the period.

The P-Bruins came into the game ready to go at the beginning of the second period, with Jared Knight scoring a goal just 2:10 into the period to tie the game. It was Knight's first goal of the season and was assisted by Rob Flick. At 13:59, Providence's Ryan Spooner scored during a P-Bruin's power play to take the lead. Spooner's goal was assisted by David Pastrnak and Alexander Khokhlachev. This was the second goal of the season for Spooner. Not long after the P-Bruins' took the lead, the Falcons scored with 4:05 left in the period to tie the game up yet again. The goal was scored by Andrew Cherniwchan and assisted by Thomas Larkin. This was the second goal of the season for former P-Bruin Cherniwchan.

With the teams tied up at the beginning of the third period, the P-Bruins and the Falcons were both ready to fight for the win. During their power play, Springfield's Ryan Craig scored a goal with 10:07 left in the third, assisted by Austin Madaisky and Marko Dano. The Falcons' strengthened their lead with 1:05 remaining when Corey Cowick sent the puck into Providence's empty net. Ryan Craig was credited with the assist. Just as fans started to exit the Dunkin Donuts Center, Providence's Frankie Simonelli scored his first goal of the season with 40.3 seconds left, assisted by Alexander Khokhlachev.
