November 28, 2005 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Providence Bruins News Release
The Providence Bruins had their most successful week of the season taking points in three of their four games last week. The P-Bruins started the week on the winning track handing the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins only their second loss of the season. The Bruins continued their winning ways Friday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center by beating the Atlantic Division leading Portland Pirates 5-4 in overtime. In their fourth game of the week on Sunday against Manchester the Bruins picked up a point in a 4-3 shootout loss. The P-Bruins have taken at least a point in five of their last six games.
The P-Bruins will try to carry the success over into this week's three games. The Bruins return to action Friday, December 2 at the Dunkin' Donuts Center when the Springfield Falcons come to town at 7:05 p.m. The Bruins hit the road for a Saturday match-up with the Lowell Lock Monsters at the Tsongas Arena at 7:35 p.m. before returning home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Sunday, December 4 to wrap up the week against the Lock Monsters at 4:05 p.m. Tickets for Friday's and Sunday's games are available online at providencebruins.com, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center box office and at all TicketMaster outlets. Ben Guite has led the charge for the P-Bruins over the past week tallying seven points (4g, 3a) in the four Bruins' games. Guite is on a five game point scoring streak and has 13 points on the season (7g, 6a). Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre the center won the face off that setup the game winning overtime goal and Friday against the Pirates scored the game-tying goal. Rookie Tyler Redenbach continues to be one of the top young players in the league after picking up another five points last week for a total of 18 on the season (8g, 10a), which puts him sixth in the league among rookies in scoring. Another rookie, Jonathan Sigalet scored the game winning goal Wednesday versus the Penguins, just one of his four points this week. Sigalet leads all P-Bruins d-men in scoring. His brother Jordan has been solid in net for the P-Bruins earning the team at least a point in his last five starts.
As a team, the Providence defense has quieted some of the top offenses in the league holding Wilkes-Barre and Hartford to only two goals each this past week. The Bruins have allowed on average only 2.82 goals per game, which ranks seventh in the league and have allowed just 28.41 shots per game on average which ranks fourth in the league.
