
P-Bruins Announce 2008-09 Schedule

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, the 2007-08 regular season points champions of the American Hockey League, today announced their schedule for the 2008-09 season, the 17th in franchise history. The Black and Gold, led by Head Coach Scott Gordon and Assistant Coach Rob Murray, will play an 80-game schedule with games against 17 different opponents. The P-Bruins open their season at home on Wednesday, October 8 at 7:05 p.m., hosting the Lowell Devils at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.
Individual game tickets will go on sale Monday, August 18 at 10 a.m. through the P-Bruins ticket office at (401) 273-5000, online at www.providencebruins.com, at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Box Office and at all Ticketmaster locations.
The P-Bruins' 40-game home schedule features 39 weekend dates, the most in franchise history. Providence will play 19 Friday night games, one Saturday evening contest and 19 games on Sunday afternoon.
All Friday and Saturday night games will be played at 7:05 p.m., while all Sunday games will begin at 4:05 p.m., with the exception of Sunday, February 1 against the Worcester Sharks. Face-off for that game will be at 2:05 p.m.
The busiest months of the season for Providence will be in November and March with the club playing 14 games apiece. The P-Bruins will play a season-high eight home games in November, while playing a high of eight road games in March.
The P-Bruins will again play in the seven-team Atlantic Division, and will face off with Lowell, the Portland Pirates, the Springfield Falcons and Worcester ten times each. The Black and Gold see division rivals the Hartford Wolf Pack and the Manchester Monarchs for eight games apiece. This gives Providence a total of 56 games against its Atlantic Division rivals.
The P-Bruins will also see five of the seven teams in the East Division. They meet the Albany River Rats, Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Hershey Bears, Norfolk Admirals and Philadelphia Phantoms two games each.
The P-Bruins will face six teams from the Western Conference. They see the Manitoba Moose for four games and the Chicago Wolves, Houston Aeros, Rochester Americans, Toronto Marlies and San Antonio Rampage twice each.
