August 7, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators announced today the full 2008-09 regular season schedule for the club's seventh season in the American Hockey League.
The B-Sens will open the season on the road for the first time in three years when they play Toronto on Saturday, Oct. 11. Binghamton will make its home debut on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Syracuse Crunch at 7:05 p.m. New to the B-Sens' schedule this season are the Houston Aeros and the San Antonio Rampage. Houston visits the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena on Friday, Jan. 2, while San Antonio skates into town on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
Binghamton will travel to Texas for the first time in club history to take on the Rampage on Thursday, Jan. 29 followed by Houston on Friday, Jan. 30.
Weekend games fill the majority of the B-Sens' schedule again this season with 30 of the 40 home contests being scheduled for a Friday (17) or Saturday (13). In addition, the B-Sens have nine Wednesday home games and one Thursday home game, their traditional Thanksgiving game. Their other traditional game, New Year's Eve, is also on the schedule, with Albany providing the opposition for both holidays in special 6:05 p.m. starts.
November will be the busiest month of the season for Binghamton, as the club will play 15 games (eight home, seven road) in 30 days. The B-Sens longest home stand comes in January, when they play six consecutive games and nine of 13 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
"We are pleased to be playing the majority of our home games on Friday and Saturday this season," said Senators' executive vice president of operations, Tom Mitchell. "It's also great for our fans that we'll have new teams coming to town this season, with Houston and San Antonio playing at the Arena for the first time."
