Syracuse, NY (August 7, 2007) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today their schedule for the 2008-09 American Hockey League season.

The Crunch will open their 15th season on Friday, October 10 against the Rochester Americans at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester. It is the fifth time in the Crunch's fifteen-year history and third year in a row that they will start the season on the road (2000-01, 2003-04 & 2006-07, 2007-08). The Crunch opens up at home against the Amerks on Saturday, October 11 for the second game of a home-and-home series with their I-90 rivals.

The 40-game home schedule includes 34 weekend games, with 32 of those dates being played on either a Friday or Saturday. Saturday is the busiest night for the Crunch at home, as they will play 18 games. The Crunch also has 14 games on Friday and two each on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Crunch will play 44 games against their North Division foes (Rochester 12, Hamilton 8, Lake Erie 8, Toronto 8, Grand Rapids 4, Manitoba 4). In addition, the Crunch will face the West Division in 8 games (two games each versus Chicago, Houston, Rockford, and San Antonio). Syracuse also has 26 contests against the East Division (Albany 8, Binghamton 8, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 8, Hershey 2). The Crunch will also play two games against the Atlantic Division Springfield Falcons.

The Crunch plays 7 games in October, 15 in November, 11 in December, 14 in January, 13 in February, 15 in March and 5 in April. Syracuse plays 9 home games in March, the most of any month.

The longest home stand of the season is five games (March 11 to March 21), totaling 11 days. The longest road trip of the season is six games, starting on January 2 in Hamilton and ending eight days later on January 10 in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Crunch will play three games in three nights eight times this season, up from six last season.

Notable games include the home opener against arch rival Rochester on Saturday, October 11, hosting the defending Calder Cup champion Chicago Wolves on Saturday, November 15 and welcoming in the Springfield Falcons and Hershey Bears on February 14 and 16, respectively, for the first time since 2006-07
