Buffalo Bisons News Release

COLUMBUS, OH - Orelvis Martinez homered in each of his first two at bats on Friday night, but that was all the offense the Buffalo Bisons could produce in their 9-3 loss to the Columbus Clippers at Huntington Park.

Martinez connected for his first home run of the night, and second in as many at bats going back to Thursday's game, off of Adam Oller. His solo shot gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead. Columbus would answer back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first for a 2-1 advantage through an inning.

However, Alek Manoah settled in and did not allow another run in his Major League injury rehab start with Buffalo. The former All-Star threw 92 pitches, going 5.2 innings for the Bisons while racking up five strikeouts in a no decision. At one point, Manoah recorded eight straight outs to keep the Bisons in front.

That was thanks to Martinez's second homer of the game, in the top of the third inning. He crushed a two-run home run in his second plate appearance of the night. It came after a Nathan Lukes two-out walk to put a runner aboard. The young prospect's fifth homer in five games put Buffalo back in front, 3-2.

The Clippers would roar back for six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to re-take the lead and pull ahead for good. Columbus batted around thanks to five straight two-out base hits. The inning was capped off by a Daniel Schneeman two-run home run. They would tack on one more run in the bottom of the eighth for the six-run victory.

The two teams have split the first four games of the series. Chad Dallas is slated to start for the Bisons when they take on Columbus for a 4:05 p.m. first pitch at Huntington Park Saturday afternoon.
