Gwinnett Stripers News Release

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Gwinnett Stripers (9-10) found Sem Robberse on the wrong night, as the Memphis Redbirds (9-10) right-hander reigned supreme over 8.0 innings in a suffocating performance that dealt the Stripers a 4-1 defeat on Friday night at Coolray Field.

Decisive Plays: A leadoff home run by Jose Fermin staked Memphis to a 1-0 lead in the first inning. An RBI double by Cesar Prieto made it 2-0 in the fourth, and an RBI single by Alfonso Rivas III made it 3-0 in the fifth. A solo home run by Thomas Saggese gave Memphis a 4-0 lead in the sixth. Gwinnett scored its lone run on an RBI groundout from Alejo Lopez to score Forrest Wall, making it 4-1 in the seventh.

Key Contributors: Lopez had the lone RBI, while Wall (1-for-3, BB) was the only Striper to reach base more than once. For Memphis, Robberse (8.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 9 SO) set a new career high in innings while Fermin and Saggese both homered for the Redbirds' first clouts of the series.

Noteworthy: Though held to a season-low of two hits, Gwinnett has yet to be shut out through 19 games in 2024.

Next Game (Saturday, April 20): Gwinnett vs. Memphis, 6:05 p.m. ET at Coolray Field. Broadcast: 5:50 p.m. ET on MyCountry993.com and Bally Live. RHP Huascar Ynoa (0-1, 6.52 ERA) will get the ball for Gwinnett against RHP Victor Santos (0-3, 10.38 ERA) for Memphis. The Stripers will give away a Stripers Bucket Hat to the first 1,750 fans at Coolray Field.
