Orlando Solar Bears News Release

Evansville, IN - The Solar Bears fought back to tie the contest at 2-2 late in the third, but the Evansville IceMen scored the game-winner with 1:09 left to play to halt the Solar Bears win streak at five games with a 3-2 victory at the Ford Center on Saturday night.

The IceMen struck first in the contest with a power play goal late in the first period. F Jeremy Langlois walked along the bottom of the left circle and fired a wristshot [image: Jacob Lagace] over the should of G Christopher Gibson with 3:44 left in the frame. It stood as the lone first period goal as the IceMen took the 1-0 lead into the second frame.

F Mike Siedel increased the Evansville lead to 2-0 at 14:20 of the second period. Right as the IceMen power play expired, the puck ricocheted off a Solar Bears defender, bounced off of Gibson, and Siedel found the rebound and placed a shot into the top right corner of the net. The Solar Bears cut the lead to 2-1 when D Connor Goggin got his first goal as Solar Bear, firing a shot from the right point that hit the back of the night in what appeared to be just after the net was dislodged. The goal was allowed to stand however, putting the Solar Bears back to within one at the end of the second.

Orlando evened up the score at 12:38 of the third frame. F Jacob Lagace collected a rebound in front of the net and snapped the puck into the top right corner for a power play tally, knotting the score at 2-2. The IceMen were able to snap the tie with just 1:09 to go in the game when a shot from D Guillaume Lepine was deflected to F Matt Schepke, and he put the shot inside the left post to lift Evansville to a 3-2 win.
