Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Olivier Roy made 17 saves and the Alaska Aces (11-3-0, 22 points) used a pair of goals in the second period to bury the Las Vegas Wranglers in a 2-1 victory before 3,553 fans at Sullivan Arena on Sunday.

The Aces, improving to 5-1-0 against Las Vegas in the head to head series, got all the offense they would need on goals by Jordan Kremyr and Kane Lafranchise (game winner) in the middle period. Alaska improved to 10-2-3 in the last 15 games against the Wranglers

After a scoreless first period that had the Aces outshooting Las Vegas 15-7, Kremyr broke the tie following a lengthy shift in the offensive zone. David Eddy found Kremyr untouched at the Las Vegas net and Kremyr stuffed a backhander past Mitch O'Keefe's glove at the 8:27 mark of the second period.

Matt Tassone scored on a wrist shot from the right circle at 14:43 at the end of a power play to level the game but it didn't take long for Alaska to respond. Just 1:14 later, following a tripping penalty to Tassone, the Nick Mazzolini won the faceoff in the Las Vegas zone to set up the play.

Martin took the win and fed Lafranchise, who hammered a shot from the center point past O'Keefe to restore the Aces lead.

The Aces had several chances to put the game away in the third period but O'Keefe made eight stops to keep the Wranglers in striking distance. O'Keefe was pulled for the extra attacker and the Wranglers earned several chances at the front of the net, but Roy turned away three shots in the final minute to preserve the victory.

O'Keefe made 37 saves to take the loss.

NOTES: Aces scratches included Zach Davies, Sean Curry, Andy Taranto, Tim Coffman, Eli Zuck and Corey Syvret ... the Aces outshot Las Vegas 39-18 ... Mazzolini's assist gave him points in 10 of the last 11 games ... the Aces improved to 6-2-0 at home and won't return home until Dec. 18 vs. Utah.
