Reign Outdo Condors with 4-2 Win

BAKERSFIELD, Calif . - The Ontario Reign (8-1-1-3), back-to-back Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, got past the Bakersfield Condors (1-10-0-1) with a 4-2 win at Rabobank Arena on Saturday night.
The Condors kept the Reign away from their cage for about a 15 minute span before Mario Lamoureux was found waiting on the Condors doorstep by a goal-line feed from Matt Register. Lamoureux knocked the puck past Chet Pickard to get the only goal of the first 20 minutes.
On their first power play of the evening, the Reign went up 2-0. Dan DaSilva sent a quick pass across the top of the Condors crease to the tape of Matt White's stick. White fired the puck top shelf for his third goal of the season against Bakersfield. A funny bounce off the glass behind the Bakersfield net allowed DaSilva to swat the puck, mid-air, into the net to give the Reign a 3-0 lead at the 17:15 mark of the second period.
The Condors got on the board with a wicked wrist shot from the top of the left circle. Joe Broda's laser beat Michael Hutchinson's glove at 5:12 for a 3-1 score. Bakersfield's Chris Collins brought the score within one as he snuck the puck in between the post and Hutchinson's blocker side at 11:28. With about 1:30 left in regulation, the Condors pulled their goalie for the extra attacker. DaSilva got his blade on the puck and launched a long shot from the Reign zone into the empty net for his second goal of the night and second empty-netter of the season.
Hutchinson earned his third straight win stopping 31 of 33 shots; Pickard took the loss with 17 saves on 20 shots.
