November 17, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
San Francisco Bulls News Release
SAN FRANCISCO - Despite 39 shots, the San Francisco Bulls (4-7-1-1) lost to the Ontario Reign (9-1-1-3), 3-1, Sunday afternoon at the Cow Palace. The Bulls peppered the Reign netminder Michael Hutchinson, but could only solve him once. Chris Crane accounted for San Francisco's goal, his fourth of the year.
Despite the Bulls dominating much of play in the first period, it was the Reign who struck first. On a San Francisco power play, Dan DaSilva forced a turnover at the blue line. He took it the other way and just barely managed to get it by Tyler Beskorowany for the shorthanded goal. The score came with 5:57 remaining in the period. The Bulls out-shot Ontario, 17-6.
The second period was very chippy and penalty-filled. After just one minor penalty in the first, the teams combined for 17 infractions, totaling 45 penalty minutes in the second. On a 5-on-3 power play, Cameron Burt launched a one-timer from the blue line that found the back of the net. DaSilva and Jake Newton registered assists on the play. The goal, with 4:45 remaining in the period, gave Ontario a 2-0 lead.
In the third period, the Bulls quickly reduced the deficit. Crane capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play opportunity, 28 seconds into the period. Crane pounced on the point shot from Mark Lee. Dean Ouellet also earned an assist on the play. Adrian Van de Mosselaer extended the lead to 3-1 with 9:58 remaining in regulation. Hutchinson kept the Bulls off the board for the final minutes, sealing the win.
Bulletins: The 17 shots on goal in the first is the most the Bulls have had in a game this season...The Bulls took a season-high 39 shots...Chris Crane extended his point streak to four games (3 goals, 2 assists).
