IceMen earn 7th win of the year

Evansville IceMen News Release

IceMen Fans,

It felt a little warmer than normal for a late autumn, mid-November day in Evansville and it may have been because the IceMen and Solar Bears heated things up early in a physical battle in their second matchup in as many days. The home team got the short end of the stick last night, but on a Saturday night with 7,890 fanatic IceMen fans in OUR HOUSE on Military Appreciation Night, we were ready for the fight.

The IceMen's Jeremy Langlois, entered the game scoring 5 points in four games and he added his 6th in five at the 16:16 mark into the 1st period of play with a nifty shot off feeds from Nathan Moon and Patrick Kennedy. The IceMen never looked back.

The two teams battled and remained at a physical 1-0 stand-still trading several penalties and a few punches along the way. There were very few PG-rated penalties tonight as it was mostly along the lines of cross-checking, boarding, double-minors, and roughing, but the one thing the IceMen weren't going to lose at tonight was backing down versus the Solar Bears.

Later, 14:20 into the second, the IceMen's Mike Seidel jumped on a lose rebound to give the IceMen a bit of a cushion and a 2-0 lead, but Orlando (8-5-0-1; 17 pts.) showed some grit of their own by making the game all square mid-way through the 3rd period of play at 2 apiece.

With both teams skating a little slower late in the 3rd the game became a matter of who was willing to give the extra 110%. Tonight we honored the men and women who have served and laid their life's on the line for us to secure our freedoms we enjoy each day and at the end of the game the IceMen gave it all they had to secure a win and Matt Schepke would end up the game-winning hero. A long rebound bounced off the pads of Solar Bear goalie Christopher Gibson and Schepke tracked it down first, then fired the puck into the top-left shelf to bury home the game-winning shot and secure the IceMen's 7th win of the year (7-1-0-2; 16 pts.) and helped us climb into a tie for 1st place in the North Division.

We again give one more special thanks to the true hero's tonight and each day. The men and women who serve us and our country each day deserve the loudest applause of the night and we thank and honor you for what you do each day and the sacrifice you and your family make....Thank You. We also thank all those who participated and helped contribute to "Operation Home Again" in tonight's post-game Jersey Auction.
