San Francisco Bulls News Release
SAN FRANCISCO - The San Francisco Bulls (4-6-1-1) lost to the Idaho Steelheads (6-4-1-0), 3-1, Saturday Night at the Cow Palace. A goal from Chris Crane gave the Bulls an early lead, but Idaho scored three unanswered goals to skate to victory.
The Bulls got on the board first for the second consecutive night. Damon Kipp wristed a shot from the blue line that Crane tipped into the back of the net on the power play. The goal at 4:27 was Crane's fourth of the season. The assists went to Kipp and Brett Findlay. Through 20 minutes of play San Francisco led 1-0. The Bulls also held the edge in shots, 10-8.
In the second period the Steelheads responded. San Francisco was caught without a man back just as their power play had expired. A streaking Justin Mercier scored an unassisted tally with 9:21 remaining in the period to tie the game at 1-1. The Steelheads struck again on a power play goal from William Rapuzzi just one minute and 15 seconds later. He received assists from Ryan Button and Mitch Wahl. At the end of two periods Idaho had a 2-1 lead.
The Bulls fought hard in the final frame, but it wasn't enough. Carl Sneep extended the Idaho lead to two, netting an unassisted goal with 3:55 remaining in the game. Josh Robinson held San Francisco scoreless in the final minutes, icing the win.
Tomorrow afternoon, the Bulls finish up their three-game homestand when the Ontario Reign come to town. The game starts at 2:15pm. It's Filipino Heritage Celebration, presented by 7 Mile House Sports Bar, Grill and Live Music. Plus, the first 1,000 kids, 13 and under receive a Disney's "Frozen" puck giveaway. Recology is also hosting a Coats for Kids Drive. Donate a gently used coat and receive a $2 off voucher for any December Bulls game.
