Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces (10-3-0, 20 points) used four goals in the first period and buried a pair of power play goals en route to a 5-2 victory over the Las Vegas Wranglers before a sellout crowd of 6,413 at Sullivan Arena on Saturday night.

The Aces, who improved to 4-1-0 on the season against Las Vegas, never trailed in the game and got 19 saves from Mark Guggenberger, who improved to 5-1. Five different goal scorers factored in the win while Brendan Connolly, Mathew Sisca and Shawn Skelly combined for five points, joined on the same line for the first time.

The Aces rolled out with four goals on the first 14 shots. Shawn Skelly deflected Brad Richard's pass from the right circle around Travis Fullerton for a power play goal just 1:51 into the game, igniting a shower of stuffed animals onto the ice for the team's Toys for Tots Drive.

Adam Huxley answered for a 1-1 tie on a rebound at the goal mouth at 4:42 but David Eddy restored the lead on a highlight reel goal, rushing through the Las Vegas defense and beating Fullerton from between the circles with 6:54 left for a 2-1 edge.

Brendan Connolly slammed a one timer from the slot past Fullerton, set up by Sisca from behind the goal line, for a power play goal at 15:37 and Ross Ring-Jarvi padded the lead to 4-1 on a deflection on Eddy's shot at the goal mouth for his first pro goal.

B.J. Crum wristed a bullet past Fullerton for a power play goal with 10:51 left in the second period for a 5-2 lead and Chris Francis helped the Wranglers cut the deficit to three on a man advantage goal with a slap shot from inside the right blueline.

Guggenberger closed out Las Vegas with seven saves in the third period, including a pair on a 5-on-3 disadvantage with less than nine minutes left in the game.

Fullerton took the loss on 30 saves.
