Today's Game: The OKC Dodgers continue their series against the Round Rock Express with a Mother's Day matinee at 1:05 p.m. at Dell Diamond, trying for their first win against the Express this season. The Express won Saturday's series opener and improved to 4-0 in the season series with OKC. With a win today, the Dodgers can avoid falling behind 0-2 in a series for the fifth time in the last six series.
Last Game: Nick Tanielu drove in three runs, including the eventual game-winning two-run single, helping Round Rock squeak by the Dodgers, 3-2, Saturday night at Dell Diamond. Tanielu drew a bases-loaded walk to get the Express on the board in the third inning and then delivered a go-ahead, two-run single in the fifth inning, which proved to be the difference. Two batters into the game, the Dodgers had a 1-0 lead. Matt Beaty sent a high fly ball that hooked fair down the right field line for his third home run of the season. Errol Robinson jumped on the first pitch of the third inning, as his solo home run was his first of the season and ended up landing at the back of the left field berm. Round Rock loaded the bases with none out in the bottom of the third inning. Ben Holmes struck out the next two batters before Tanielu drew a walk to force in a run. The Express took its first lead in the bottom of the fifth inning. Derek Fisher and Myles Straw started the inning with hits, and both later scored on Tanielu's two-out single to center field. After falling behind, the Dodgers collected one hit for the rest of the game. Express starting pitcher Ryan Hartman (5-0) got the win, while Dodgers reliever Justin Grimm (0-3) was charged with the loss. Brendan McCurry earned his third save.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Dennis Santana (0-1) makes his fourth start of the season with the Dodgers and his first career appearance against the Express...In his first start after a brief stint on the Injured List, Santana pitched 4.0 scoreless innings May 7 against Nashville, allowing five hits and two walks with six strikeouts...Over his last two starts with OKC, Santana has allowed just two runs --- both on solo homers -- totaling 9.1 innings. During that time he's recorded 12 strikeouts...Santana started the season with OKC, but was recalled April 7 by Los Angeles before making an appearance. He made three appearances out of the LAD bullpen and allowed a total of four runs and six hits over 5.0 IP with four walks and six K's. He was optioned back to OKC April 14...Santana began the 2018 season with Double-A Tulsa before making his first career start with OKC May 19, 2018 and his Major League debut on June 1. However, a right rotator cuff strain sent him to the 60-day Disabled List June 9 and effectively ended his season...Santana entered 2019 ranked as the Dodgers' No. 7 prospect, according to Baseball America...He originally signed as a shortstop as an international free agent in March 2013 at the age of 16 out of the Dominican Republic and converted to pitching in 2014.
Against the Express: 2019: 0-4 2018: 10-6 All-time: 124-102 At RR: 65-47

Yordan Alvarez, the MiLB Uncle Ray's April Player of the Month for the PCL, went 9-for-12 in the series with four doubles, a home run, seven RBI and six runs scored...Round Rock is again the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros after spending the 2011-18 seasons as the Triple-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The Express previously served as the Astros' Double-A affiliate from 2000-2004 and Triple-A affiliate from 2005-10...OKC won the 2018 season series between the teams, 10-6, and has now won four straight season series against the Express...OKC has had an extended run of success at Dell Diamond, including a 6-2 mark at the venue last year. In 14 seasons since the teams began playing each other in 2005, OKC has finished with a record of .500 or better 12 times and has not had a losing record at Dell Diamond since 2009. Beginning with the 2010 season, OKC owns a 45-28 record at Dell Diamond and a 22-11 mark since the Dodgers affiliation began in 2015.
Runaway Train: There have been a few noticeable trends in the first four games this season between the Dodgers and Express. The Dodgers have scored in the first inning in each game and have led by at least two runs in three of the four contests. In all other games this season when leading by at least two runs, OKC is 9-2...Last night the Dodgers drew five walks, but all were stranded on base. None of the last 20 walks the Dodgers have drawn against the Express have come around to score. On the other hand, Round Rock has drawn 20 walks against the Dodgers this season and have converted those into 13 runs...The Dodgers have gone 7-for-37 against the Express with runners in scoring position. In their last two meetings, they are just 2-for-22 with RISP have left 15 runners in scoring position, including 11 at third base.
Dinger Details: Matt Beaty and Errol Robinson each homered Saturday night, as the Dodgers have put together three straight multi-homer games to tie their longest streak of the season, hitting seven homers during the stretch. The Dodgers have now hit 16 homers over their last eight games after hitting 16 home runs through their first 26 games of the season...The Dodgers have kept their opponent inside the park in three of their last four games and allowed just one run home run during that time after surrendering 13 over the previous seven games.
Garlick Smash: Kyle Garlick was held without a hit Saturday night as he went 0-for-3 with a walk, marking just the second time in his last nine games he was held hitless...Including his 2-for-2 performance in Friday night's suspended game against Nashville, Garlick is now 14-for-36 (.389) with five home runs, 10 extra-base hits, eight runs scored and 13 RBI over his last nine games...Although Friday's suspended game is not yet official and therefore not yet reflected in the Dodgers' official team stats, if Garlick's statistics are included from Friday night, he paces the Dodgers with 31 hits overall this season to go along with his team-best 20 RBI and nine homers. His 18 runs scored are second-most among OKC players.
On Strike: The Dodgers' pitching staff tallied nine more strikeouts Saturday and OKC leads the PCL American Conference with 334 strikeouts over 286.0 innings this season. The Dodgers rank third overall in the PCL in strikeouts, but league-leading Sacramento (352) has pitched 37.1 more innings than OKC and second-place Tacoma (349) has pitched 36.2 more innings than OKC...The Dodgers established the PCL single-season record for strikeouts in both 2016 and 2017, with 1,245 and 1,277 K's, respectively, before Fresno bested both of those totals in 2018 with 1,330 K's...However, when opponents don't strike out, they are batting .402 (317x788) overall and .440 (122x277) over the last 11 games.
Warming Trends: Matt Beaty hit his third homer of the season last night and is now 6-for-his-last-10 (including Friday) after going 0-for-7 immediately upon his option to OKC. Including Friday's suspended game, Beaty has hit safely in seven of his last eight with OKC, going 10-for-30 with a double, two homers, four RBI and five runs scored...Will Smith is 6-for-9 with two walks over the last three games, following a 4-for-37 slide.
Around the Horn: The Dodgers have collected at least one extra-base hit in 33 of their 34 games this season, including in each of the last 28 straight....Ben Holmes' start of 4.0 innings last night marked the seventh time in 11 games this month the OKC starting pitcher tossed 4.0 or fewer innings...The 84 runs allowed by the Dodgers in May are the most among all teams in the Minors or Majors...Connor Joe returned to the lineup last night and went 1-for-3 with walk out of the leadoff spot. Last season when batting first with OKC, Joe slashed .333/.448/.604 with two homers in 11 RBI over 13 games.
