Oilers Slip Past Thunder 4-2

Wichita, KS - Wichita (6-12-0-1) was unable to hold onto to a pair of one-goal leads on Saturday night, losing to Tulsa (7-7-1-1) by the final score of 4-2 at INTRUST Bank Arena. Brady Ramsay broke a tie game in the third period with a shorthanded tally to help the Oilers win a fight-filled contest. Wichita drops to 2-2-0-0 in the StoneWolf Casino Cup Series.

Danick Gauthier had a pair of goals in the losing effort to pace the Thunder offense.

The Thunder took the lead at 12:16 of the first period when a dump-in from Donnie Harris took a Wichita bounce off the corner boards, allowing Gauthier to get to it while Kevin Carr was out of the net. Tulsa tied the game after Ramsey created a turnover in

the Thunder zone and scored on a wrap-around at 16:55. With less than a minute to go in the frame, Mathieu Gagnon took a two-minute boarding penalty and Wichita was able to capitalize. Gauthier potted his second of the first with one second on the clock, snapping a shot over Carr for his fifth goal of the season.

In the second, Christophe Lalancette recorded his third of the season at 2:50 with a rebound to the left of Grant Rollheiser to tie the game once again. The second frame consisted of four fights, three of which were one after the other. In the end, the two teams combined for 66 penalty minutes in the contest.

Ramsay scored the game-winner in the third period, potting a shorthanded goal with seven minutes left in regulation. Emerson Clark tallied an empty-netter with six seconds left to stall a Thunder comeback bid and the Oilers skated away with a 4-2 victory.

Wichita scored its first power play goal against Tulsa this season. Gauthier recorded his second multi-goal game of the week and fifth goal in his last four games. Rollheiser takes the loss, stopping 23 of 26 shots. Carr improves to 14-2-0-0 against the Thunder all-time, stopping 20 of 22 shots he faced.

The Thunder went 1-for-4 on the power play. Tulsa went 0-for-5 on the man advantage.

Wichita begins a seven-game road swing starting on Saturday, December 5th in Independence against the Mavericks at 7:05 p.m.
