(LOVELAND, CO)--The Colorado Eagles beat the Florida Everblades 5-1 at the Budweiser Events Center on Stick Up For Kids night in a wild contest on Saturday. Kris Lazaruk stood tall in goal stopping 32 of 33 shots, picking up his first professional point and his first professional fighting major in the process.

Colorado got on the board first when Eagles captain Trent Daavettila scored a goal from the low slot at the 9:45 mark of the first period. The Eagles would take that 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Eagles added another goal early in the second period on the power play when forward Darryl Bootland put Colorado up 2-0 with his second goal of the season off a rebound at the 2:15 mark.

Eagles forward Ludwig Karlsson grew the advantage for the Eagles at the 12:36 mark of the second, slamming in a goal after a battle in front of the net and giving Colorado a 3-0 lead.

The Eagles took a four-goal lead 12 seconds into the third period when forward Kyle Kraemer scored his fifth goal of the season for Colorado. A pass from Jesse Mychan at the blue line found Kraemer wide open and he was able to beat Florida goaltender Anthony Peters on the short side to make it 4-0.

Colorado's offensive onslaught wasn't finished, as Bootland deflected a shot from the point for his second goal of the night, expanding the Eagles lead to 5-0 at the 14:44 mark of the third.

Florida broke up the shutout with 3:09 to play in the period when forward Ethan Werek scored on a breakaway on the powerplay, putting the Everblades on the board, but still trailing 5-1.

Tempers would boil over in the final minute of regulation, as five separate fights broke out, including a fight between Lazaruk and Peters in front of the Eagles net. With the final seconds ticking off without incident, the Eagles captured a 5-1 victory in front of a raucous crowd at the Budweiser Events Center.

Not to be overshadowed, the Eagles second-annual Stick Up For Kids night raised over $57,000 dollars from the silent auction of game-used, specially wrapped sticks, with all of the money raised going to four local children's charities. Among those benefitting from the generous efforts of Eagles fans and The UPS Stores of Fort Collins was Realities for Children, Colorado Youth Outdoors, the Kawasaki Kids Foundation and Respite Care, Inc.

The Eagles travel to Anchorage to take on the Alaska Aces on Wednesday, December 2nd at 9:15pm MST.
