Tulsa Oilers News Release
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP The Oilers battle the Mavericks in the third of 13 meetings this season. Tulsa is 1-0-1-0 against Missouri with a 4-3 shootout win on October 30 and a 5-4 overtime loss on November 20. Both previous contests took place at the BOK Center and the Mavericks will visit Tulsa on two more occasions before the Oilers make their first trip to Missouri in late January. The Oilers have won two games in a row while the Mavs enter today's tilt as the top team in the ECHL and the hottest team in the league with an 11-game win streak.
TWICE IS NICE Saturday night, the Oilers picked up their second straight win over the Thunder with a 4-2 victory at INTRUST Bank Arena. In a game that featured four fights - all in the second period - Brady Ramsay scored a pair of goals including the shorthanded game-winner to lift the Oilers past their rival for the second night in a row. Christophe Lalancette and Emerson Clark added goals for the Oilers and Kevin Carr turned in a 20-save performance for his fifth win of the season.
KEEP IT ROLLING Last night's triumph in Wichita gave the Oilers back-to-back wins for the first time in nearly three and a half weeks. Tulsa has earned points in four of its last five games and is on its first two-game road winning streak of the season.
GLOVES OFF The Oilers and Thunder paid tribute to the old days of the Central Hockey League on Saturday night by engaging in four fights in the second period. Four minutes into the frame, Tulsa rookie defenseman Tom Kroshus traded punches with Wichita forward Paxton Leroux. At the 14:33 mark, Brady Ramsay tussled with Thunder forward Mason Baptista and off the ensuing face off, Mathieu Gagnon attempted to avenge Kroshus by trading punches with Leroux. Seconds later, Oilers' forward Emerson Clark challenged Thunder enforcer Erick Lizon. The Oilers set a new season-high with 32 penalty minutes in the contest.
STAY UNPACKED FOR A WHILE Tonight the Oilers begin a stretch of eight straight games on home ice. In that span, the Oilers will play Missouri (2x), Wichita (2x), Rapid City, and will face off against the Utah Grizzlies and Idaho Steelheads (2x) for the first time in franchise history. The Oilers will not hit the road again until a December 21 trip to Allen.
ALMOST THERE With a win tonight, Oilers' Head Coach Jason Christie can tie John Marks for the ECHL record for all-time coaching wins. Christie, who has spent time behind the benches for Peoria (2000-05), Utah (2005-08), Ontario (2011-15), and Tulsa (2015), has recorded 490 career victories and an ECHL win-percentage of .616.
STEADY AND RELIABLE Kevin Carr has started four straight games in net for the Oilers and in that span, the second-year pro has recorded a 3-1 record, a 1.50 goals against average, and a .933 save-percentage. Carr ranks fourth among all ECHL goaltenders with an overall goals against average of 1.79 and is tied for second in the league with two shutouts.
OIL DROPS Emerson Clark is on a two-game point streak and leads the team with six goals...The Oilers are 1-1 in Sunday home games this season and 0-1 in the alternate pinstripe jerseys.
