Last Night

Matt Neal and Olivier Archambault both scored and Brody Hoffman made 30 saves as the host Mallards defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones 2-1.

First

The Mallards will take over sole possession of first place in the Midwest Division if they earn at least one point today. By defeating Cincinnati last night the Mallards moved into a first place tie with the Cyclones. Today's game is the Mallards twenty-first; the Cyclones have played 17 times.

Back-to-Back

Last night's win followed a 3-1 Mallard victory over Kalamazoo Friday to give the Mallards back-to-back wins for the third time this season. They have yet to win more than two in a row.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards have won seven straight home games and are unbeaten in regulation (9-0-1) in ten home games since dropping their home opener October 23 against Tulsa. Their current home winning streak is the Mallards' longest since they won eight straight Central Hockey League games at home between March 3 and March 24, 2013. Their current home regulation unbeaten streak is the Mallards' longest since they went 11 straight United Hockey League home games (9-0-2) without a regulation defeat between February 2 and March 10, 2007. The Mallards' current home regulation unbeaten streak is the longest in the ECHL this season. The Mallards are tied with the Missouri Mavericks- who have won all seven of their home games- for longest home winning streak in the league this season.

The Mallards lead the ECHL in home wins (9).

Stingy

The Mallards have allowed just one goal in each of their last two games and each of their last three home games. They have given up a total of just six goals over their last five home games.

Rough Road

The Mallards have suffered five straight road losses and have gone winless (0-6-2) in eight road games since winning their season opener in Allen October 16. The Mallards last dropped five in a row in regulation on the road when they lost five straight International Hockey League away games between March 19 and April 3, 2010. The Mallards last went winless in eight straight road games (0-4-4) between November 9 and December 5 last year.

Busy

The Mallards are in the midst of a stretch of seven games in ten days and eight games in 12 days. Today's game is the third in three nights for the Mallards. The Mallards are playing a third game in 48 hours for the second successive weekend and for the third time this season. They are 2-0-0 when playing a third game in three days.

Between the Pipes

Brody Hoffman made 30 saves while earning the win in goal for the Mallards last night. Steve Michalek is on a three game winning streak during which he has stopped 100 of 104 shots to post a 1.34 goals against average and a .962 save percentage. Michalek is now tied for eighth in the ECHL in save percentage (.928).

High Five

Neal now has five points (one goal and four assists) in his last five games. By producing his eighth goal of the season last night he moved into tie for the ECHL rookie goal-scoring lead.

Double Dip

Guillaume Gelinas has three assists in his last two games and is now tied for sixth among ECHL defensemen in points (13).

Arch Madness

Archambault is now tied for seventh in the ECHL in assists (13) and tied for ninth in points (19).

Iron Mike

Mike Monfredo is tied for fourth among ECHL defensemen in points (14) and assists (12).

Special Teams

Archambault's second period power play goal last night ended a 0-for-8 Mallard power play drought. The Mallards rank fifth in the ECHL on the man advantage (22.1 percent). They are eighteenth in the ECHL in penalty killing (82.1 percent).

Head to Head

The Mallards have gone 1-2-0 against the Fuel this season. Last Sunday's 2-1 victory was the Mallards' first ever win over the Fuel. The home team has won each of the first three games between the two clubs. The Mallards and Fuel will clash a total of ten times this year.

Milestones

Darren McMillan has recorded 99 points as a Mallard...Monfredo has 94 career points...Anthony Collins has 98 penalty minutes as a Mallard.
