Wheeling Nailers News Release

Wheeling, WV – The Wheeling Nailers in cooperation with Alltel Communications and WTRF announced today that they will participate in the "Call for Coats" campaign from today until December 20, 2002.

The "Call for Coats Campaign" consists of individuals bringing a new or gently used coat, which has been recently dry-cleaned, to a Wheeling Nailers home game, the St. Clairsville location of Alltel Communications, along with the Wheeling Alltel location or the studios of WTRF. In return they will receive a coupon for a free Wheeling Nailers Ticket to be redeemed at the Wheeling Civic Center Box Office. All coats collected will be distributed to the House of the Carpenter.

"At this time of year, we are more than happy to participate in any charitable event to help make the holidays a little more enjoyable for the less fortunate," commented Fred Traynor, Chief Operating Officer of the Wheeling Nailers. "The "Call for Coats" campaign initiated by Alltel Communications, is a great way for the Nailers to continue to help give back to the community," continued Traynor.

The Nailers are home for two games this weekend both on Friday and Saturday. On Friday night the Nailers host the Dayton Bombers on "Teddy Bear Toss Night." Fans are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to the game on Friday and toss it onto the ice when the Nailers score their first goal. The toys will then be collected and donated to the Toys for Tots campaign in cooperation with the U.S. Marines.

On Saturday the Nailers host the Toledo Storm at 7:30pm as the Toys for Tots campaign continues. Tickets are available at the Wheeling Civic Center Box Office.
