Greensboro Generals News Release
GREENSBORO GENERALS
The Generals defeated the Charlotte Checkers 5-3 last Saturday night on the road. Vlad Serov had the Generals on top 1-0 after one period with a power play goal. Greensboro erupted for three more scores in the second for a 4-0 lead, and appeared headed to an easy victory, but it didn't turn out that way. Charlotte made the game a nail-biter by scoring three unanswered goals in the third period to cut the Generals lead to 4-3. Greensboro was finally able to breathe easy after getting an empty net goal to seal the victory. Serov finished with two goals on the night, while Mark Turner, Roman Marakhovski, and Jay Murphy also scored for the Generals.
ATLANTIC CITY BOARDWALK BULLIES
The Boardwalk Bullies lost to the Roanoke Express 5-4 last Sunday on the road. Atlantic City's Scott Matzka scored early in the game for a 1-0 lead, but it would be the only lead they would hold all night. Roanoke countered with two Jason Jaffray goals to take a 2-1 lead. The Boardwalk Bullies would tie the game on three separate occasions with goals from Jimmy Henkel, Jade Galbraith, and Shawn Maltby. However, the Express got the last laugh with Rick Kowalsky netting the game winner midway through the third period. Scott Stirling took the loss in net for Atlantic City, stopping 34 of 39 shots on the night.
