Greensboro Generals News Release

GREENSBORO, NC - The Greensboro Generals (140-6-4) had an opportunity to set themselves up for a three-way tie as Northeast Division leaders. However, the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (16-6-4) had other thoughts, posting a 5-1 road victory over the Generals in the Greensboro Coliseum. The loss had a seven game unbeaten streak (6-0-1) snapped in the process. Atlantic City's Jim Henkel recorded his first career hat trick, scoring the games' first two goals in the second period. His first came on a power play conversion at the 2:31 mark of the period. The second goal of the period would come at the 14:22 point.

Trailing 2-0 early in the third period, the Generals Mark Turner would record a power play goal just 52 seconds into the third period after the Atlantic City bench was penalized for a unsportmanlike conduct before the start of the period.

Henkel would score his third goal of the night just 45 seconds later for a 3-1 lead. Atlantic City would add their final two goals in the last two minutes of the game. The first came on a empty net goal by Kevin Colley, who also recorded three assists in the game, at the 18:47 mark. The final goal was scored by J.F. Caudron with 38 seconds remaining in the game.

Generals goalie Daniel Berthiaume (12-3-3) stopped 18 shots, losing to the Bullies for the second time this season.

The Generals host the Charlotte Checkers tomorrow night at 7:00. Fans are encouraged to take part in Thirsty Thursday at the Greensboro Coliseum, where $1 draft beer is available courtesy of R. H. Barringer. Friday night at 7:30 is Pizza Hut "Guaranteed Win Night" at the Coliseum when the Generals host the defending Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl. If the Generals win on Friday, everyone in the building will receive a free personal pan pizza courtesy of Pizza Hut.
