Greensboro Generals News Release
Greensboro, NC â The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) are proud to announce a special event to be held on their December 18 game against the Columbia Inferno. The Generals will hold a "Teddy Bear Toss" promotion that evening, with everyone receiving a buy one ticket, get one free offer if they bring a teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game. The Generals game against Columbia is set to start at 7:00 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The bears will be collected by the Generals by all fans throwing the bears on the ice immediately after the Generals score their first goal of the night. Aside from throwing hats on the ice after a hat trick and the popular "Chuck-A-Puck" promotion, this will be the only time all season fans will be encouraged to throw anything on the ice.
All bears and other stuffed animals brought to the game will be donated to the pediatric ward of Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Generals players will hand deliver the bears to the patients the following day, December 19, at 1:00 p.m.
"There's not much of a better feeling than helping out children who could use a little lift in their day over the holidays," says Generals' co-owner and president Rocco Scarfone. "By having the teddy bear toss, both our fans and the Generals can make a difference in a young child's Christmas by giving them a bear they'll cherish for years."
The Generals have three home games this week prior to Teddy Bear Toss night. They entertain the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies for a share of the division lead tonight at 7:00, and their in-state rival Charlotte Checkers invade the Coliseum for the first time this season on Thursday night at 7:00. On Friday at 7:30, the Generals host the defending Kelly Cup Champion Greenville Grrrowl on "Guaranteed Win Night," sponsored by Pizza Hut. If the Generals win on Friday, everyone in attendance will receive a free personal pan pizza courtesy of Pizza Hut. Ticket prices range from $10.00 - $17.00, with tickets as low as $8.00 for students and seniors. Generals Flex Plans for six, twelve, and 18 games are also available for as little as $50.00.
