Nailers Add Fernholm; Release Seven

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers have added the Pittsburgh Penguins fourth round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, defenseman Daniel Fernholm. Fernholm, 21, was assigned from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.

Fernholm recorded five points (3-2) and 22 penalty minutes in 31 games during the 2004-05 season for Djurgardens in the Swedish League. He also appeared in seven games for Bolzano HC in the Italian League, recording two assists and two penalty minutes.

The 6-4 and 218 pound native of Stockholm, Sweden was selected 101st overall by the Penguins in 2002.

The Nailers also announced the release of John Burton, Rob Flynn, Noah Katz, Ricky Renzick, Martin Stuchlik, Istvan Nagy, and Brandon Crawford-West. The Nailers currently have 24 players on the roster.

The Nailers will play their final pre-season game tomorrow night hosting the Johnstown Chiefs at WesBanco Arena. Saturday will also be the annual Nailers Fan-Fest, where kids of all ages can participate in games, locker room tours, and player autograph sessions. The free Fan-Fest activities start at 5:30 with the game following at 7:30. Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased at the WesBanco Arena box office or at the Nailers office.
