Home Opener Proceeds to Help Hurricane Victims

Pensacola, FL - The 2004-2005 Brabham Cup Champion Pensacola Ice Pilots announced the establishment of "The Pensacola Community Foundation" in support of national, regional, local and community charities.

The Ice Pilots will be donating proceeds of the Ice Pilots home opener vs. Greenville on Friday, October 21 at 7:05 p.m. along with proceeds of fundraising efforts from all teams associated with Ice Pilots owner Mario Forgione, which include the Mississauga IceDogs of the OHL, the Toronto IceDogs A, AA, AAA teams of the GTHL, the Milton Ice Hawks of the OHA and the Toronto Aeros of the NWHL.

The community foundation will help victims of Hurricane Katrina, Rita, Dennis and Ivan. The proceeds will be distributed to victims in Pensacola throughout the gulf coast from Biloxi, Louisiana and Texas.

"One of my goals when I bought the Ice Pilots was to have a purpose in starting a community foundation to help local charities. All of my hockey teams are community driven and the same will be for the Pensacola Ice Pilots", said Forgione. "There are a lot of people in need of help with the hurricanes that have hit the gulf coast in the last year. We BELIEVE in the spirit of the people and hope to be a part of the rebuilding of this community".

The Ice Pilots will play two home preseason games this Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15 vs. Gwinnett at 7:05 p.m. Cost of tickets to the Ice Pilots preseason home games are $11 for lower level tickets and $6 for upper level tickets. Fans can purchase individual tickets for the Ice Pilots preseason games in person at the Civic Center box office, at any Ticketmaster location, charge by phone at 434-7444 or through the Ice Pilots website www.icepilots.com.
