Augusta Lynx News Release
Colt King scored twice for the Augusta Lynx while Ryan Lang collected a goal and two assists to pace the team past the Greenville Grrrowl last night 5-3 in pre-season action at the Augusta Ice Sports Center.
King opened the scoring just 23 seconds into the game, taking advantage of a deflection on a Steve Lecuyer shot while stationed outside the Grrrowl goal crease to make it 1-0 Lynx. Lang also picked up a helper on the goal.
Chris Chaput followed to make it 2-0 for the Lynx at the 3:14 mark from Jimmy Callahan and Joe Pereira, but Greenville finally got on the board at 12:34 with a Tyler Mosienko marker. Mosienko beat Lynx starter Cam Ellsworth, who played the first two periods and allowed all three goals against on 20 shots.
King's second goal of the night was set up by a Treavor Peterson feed in the slot to make it 3-1 Lynx after the opening frame.
Greenville mounted a comeback in the second period, scoring twice to tie the game at 3-3 before Lang jumped on the board with help from Dan Sullivan at 6:15 of the middle stanza. Lang drove the length of the ice on the right wing, using King as a decoy on a two-on-one and firing the puck past Grrrowl starter Scott Della Vedova.
Eric Lundberg would notch the final goal of the game on Lang's second assist of the night at 18:48 of the second period.
Both teams switched goaltenders in the third period, with Chris Levesque in for Augusta and Matt Migliaccio taking over for the Grrrowl. Levesque finished with four saves while Migliaccio made five stops.
Augusta finished the game 2-for-5 on the power play while Greenville went 1-for-6.
The Lynx will be back in action on Saturday from South Carolina as they take on the Stingrays in a matinee matchup at the Carolina Ice Palace. Augusta wraps up their pre-season schedule at 7 pm on Tuesday, October 18th in Columbia against the Inferno. That game is free to the public with donations accepted for the American Red Cross.
