July 6, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Durham Bulls News Release
DURHAM, NC - The International League announced today that Durham utility man Taylor Motter was selected as the league's Batter of the Week for the week June 28th to July 5th.
In five games last week Motter batted .556 (10-for-18) while hitting three home runs and collecting 10 RBI. The 25-year-old hit safely in all five games he played in, while tallying multi-hit games in three contests. On July 2nd at Norfolk, Motter went 2-for-5 and drove in all five Durham runs in a 5-3, comeback win when he hit a game-tying two-run homer in the eighth inning, and a go-ahead two-run double in the ninth. From July 1st through July 4th, the Coastal Carolina University product homered in three straight games for just the second time in his career.
Named an IL All-Star on Thursday, Motter ranks 5th in the league in batting average (.315), 1st in doubles (29), 1st in extra-base hits (37), 1st in total bases (145), 2nd in hits (93), 2nd in slugging percentage (.492) and T-2nd in runs scored (44) in 2015. Since June 3rd Motter has hit safely in 27-of-28 games, batting a league-best .400 (44-for-110) with four home runs and 20 RBI in that span.
Motter joins outfielder Corey Brown (June 8th-14th) and RHP Dylan Floro (April 9th-12th) as the only Bulls players to be selected IL Batter or Pitcher of the Week in 2015.
The Durham Bulls conclude a three-game set with the Norfolk Tides at the DBAP at 7:05 tonight, and return home for a three-game series against the Gwinnett Braves on Friday, July 10th at 7:05 p.m. Mini Plans, group and single game tickets are available now.
