DURHAM, NC - Two runs were all the Durham Bulls needed as they blanked the Norfolk Tides Monday night at the DBAP, earning a 2-0 win in the finale of a three-game.

Southpaw Scott Diamond (9-3) was superb for Durham, earning the win with 7 2/3 shutout frames, allowing just three hits and striking out five. Preston Guilmet picked up his third save of the campaign, recording the final four outs and scattering a pair of hits.

Durham (44-40) struck for the game's first run in the fourth. JP Arencibia walked with one out, and advanced to second on a groundout. Nick Franklin then blooped a single to shallow centerfield, scoring Arencibia for a 1-0 lead.

Norfolk (47-35) almost tied the game in the seventh inning, when Michael Almanzar hit a ball over the head of centerfielder Mikie Mahtook. Mahtook lunged for the ball and fell, allowing Almanzar to circle the bases and seemingly tie the game. Durham appealed to third base however, and it was ruled that the runner missed the base, and was therefore called out.

In the eighth inning Corey Brown provided Durham some insurance, blasting a solo homer into the rightfield seats for a 2-0 cushion.

Righty Zach Davies (3-5) was the tough-luck loser for Norfolk, throwing a complete game and allowing two runs on four hits.

The Bulls hit the road for a three-game series beginning Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. in Charlotte. Durham sends RHP Matt Andriese (1-0, 2.88) to the mound opposite RHP Junior Guerra (0-3, 2.91) for the Knights.
