STOCKTON, CA - The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, defeated the Stockton Heat on Wednesday at Stockton Arena in Stockton, CA, by a final score of 6-0. With the win, Cleveland improved to 22-35-7-3 overall this season and with a .403 points percentage, remain alone in seventh place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

After a scoreless opening period, the Monsters exploded for five even-strength second-period goals from Jacob Graves at 1:50, assisted by Justin Scott, from Grant Besse at 9:02, set up by Scott and Spencer Naas, from Graves again at 9:29, thanks to helpers from Kale Kessy and Calvin Thurkauf, from Jordan Schroeder at 15:26, courtesy of Cameron Gaunce's lone assist, and from Gaunce himself at 17:29, made possible by Miles Koules' nifty passing.

In the third, Kevin Stenlund provided a visionary setup on Naas' second goal of the season at even-strength with Garret Cockerill providing the secondary assist at 8:03 of the frame to cap the scoring in a 6-0 Monsters win. Besse's goal was the first of his AHL career and both Graves and Gaunce finished the game with +5 ratings to their credit.

Cleveland net-minder Matiss Kivlenieks improved to 13-17-4 this season by virtue of a 28-save shutout, the first of his professional career, while Stockton backstop David Rittich fell to 5-2-0 this year after allowing five goals on 20 shots faced through two periods of play. Nick Schneider relieved Rittich in the third and allowed one goal on five shots faced.
