On the frantic finish to the game
It was a good push by us but you know coming out the way we did for the first half of the game we were lucky it wasn't more than two, three, even, four nothing. I think we needed to give ourselves a little more character by waking up and giving them a little push back and showing them that if we play like that for the whole game then I think we would have had a different outcome.
On the loss
I think you are kind of standings watching and you see that Bakersfield is below us and they may not have much to play for but with however many games we have left they are probably thinking, just give ourselves the best chance and try and win them all and see what happens. I think looking back at last weekend with Cleveland, same thing, a team at the bottom of the standings, we kind of take our position for granted and feel like you don't have to play up to our standards and that's not the case. These teams all want to be the spoiler and a team like Bakersfield still feel like they are in it.
Kiefer Sherwood
On the third period push
When we turned it on and had that surge we are a tough team to play against and we had them on their heels. If we can work on our starts and play a full 60 the results will take care of themselves.
On looking at the standings
It is obviously a new environment for me, but as far as a team everyone is aware of where we stand and it just motivates us to bring it every day. We know that there is pressure from the other teams below us trying to take our spot, so we can't take anything for granted moving forward.
On the fast paced nature of the schedule
It is different from college where we practiced for a full week and then played on Friday and Saturday with three or four days here. I think it is great and a testament to the team and character that we have in the locker room.
On adjusting to the speed of pro hockey
I can't say enough about my teammates and my line mates that have helped me adjust and it is a privilege with them. Playing against men now, and the pace has picked up, so you have to be ready to make plays.
On his role on the power play
It was a great play by Sammy (Sam Carrick) coming up the face off and it went down to (Kevin Roy) and he just tried to stuff it out and luckily it went on my tape and I just tried to put it on net and beat the goalie. I think that we have a lot of trigger men. I wouldn't say that it is just me, I think we have a lot of trigger men and we just have to keep it simple at times and just get it to the net because once we do that everything kind of sets up as far as lanes and plays. When we did that we were really effective.
Head Coach Dallas Eakins
On the frantic finish to the game
I thought we had some good looks late there and I think in the last four minutes we banged two off the pipes and one or two other times we hit their goalie with the puck and he wasn't even sure where it was. The problem with that is we needed that play through the first period and part of the second. We had a couple guys tonight who weren't feeling it and there lies the problem. It's like a foundation of a house, you have to have everybody clicking or that house is going to fall. We ended up losing by a goal because we didn't have everybody on board early.
On the message going into Friday
We are a tired team. We just went out to Cleveland with the time change and played two games and came right back and we are looking for rest. The message has been already sent and we will try and get some rest here and be ready for Friday.
On Mike Liambas and Scott Sabourin providing energy
It's inspiring. They go out there and they skate hard and give their all. We need giving your all, whatever your skill set is, from every player. These games are 60 minutes and only the goalie has to play 60 minutes. The other guys are playing eight, 12 or 15, whatever it is, and that is all you have to play. That is all we are asking, to give your all, be committed, be disciplined for whatever minutes you play. It's not that hard.
