June 11, 2026 - SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego Gulls announced today that head coach Matt McIlvane will depart the organization to join the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL) as an assistant coach. McIlvane, the fifth head coach in Gulls American Hockey League (AHL) history, led the club to an 88-97-23-8 record from 2023-26, his first three seasons as an AHL head coach. June 5, 2026 - San Diego Gulls assistant coach Michael Babcock has departed the organization to join the Brantford Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) as their next head coach. Plans for a Three-Sheet Public Skating Facility in Escondido at Kit Carson Park Announced

May 28, 2026 - IRVINE, Calif. - The City of Escondido and The Rinks Foundation together announced today their intent to bring a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to the Escondido City Council to explore the feasibility of developing a community ice facility to be built by The Rinks Foundation, a nonprofit organization that operates eight hockey and skating facilities in Southern California, including The Rinks - Poway ICE in Poway, Calif. and Great Park Ice in Irvine, Calif.
