LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
Vs. Norfolk (2/28): A power play goal at 11:35 of the third period allowed the Norfolk Admirals to edge the Manchester Monarchs 3-2 at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Tuesday night. Right wing Matt Keith scored both the first and last goal of the game for the Admirals. Norfolk's defenseman Brandon Rogers also recorded a tally in the win. The Monarchs battled back with goals from center Matt Ryan and left wing Jeff Tambellini. Goaltender Adam Hauser took the loss for the Monarchs with 33 saves. Admirals goaltender Corey Crawford earned his 19th win stopping 30 shots. Manchester went 1-for-6 on the power play. Norfolk was 1-for-11 with the man advantage.
At Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (3/4): A goal in each period lifted the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins over the Manchester Monarchs, 4-2, at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza on Saturday night. The East Division leading Penguins collected goals from center Kurtis McLean, center Kenny Corupe, center Matt Hussey and right wing Jonathan Filewich. Right wings Lauri Tukonen and Brad Smyth put the Monarchs on the scoreboard. Manchester's goaltender Adam Hauser took his third consecutive loss with 19 saves. Goaltender Dany Sabourin earned the win with 22 saves for the Penguins. Manchester went 1-for-5 on the power play. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
At Binghamton (3/5): Goaltender Barry Brust stopped 38 of 39 shots in the Manchester Monarchs 3-1 victory over the Binghamton Senators at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena on Sunday evening. Defenseman Denis Grebeshkov, right wing Konstantin Pushkarev and center Connor James scored for the Monarchs. Grebeshkov's goal came on the power play and James scored into the empty net at 19:18 of the final frame. The Senators lone goal came off the stick of right wing Brandon Bochenski during a power play late in the third period to deny Brust his third shutout of the season. Brust stopped 38 shots for his 16th win of the season. Senators goaltender Kelly Guard took the loss with 30 saves. Manchester went 1-for-4 on the power play. Binghamton was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS EVENTS/PROMOTIONS
3/6/06 - Monarchs At Your Service Event - The Monarchs players will serve as the wait staff during the team's 5th Annual At Your Service dinner at the Event Center at C.R. Sparks on Monday, March 6. The fun and exciting evening will include a cocktail hour with appetizers and a silent auction with items including pottery, Build-A-Bears and baskets, all created by the players, followed by dinner and dancing. The players will accept tips for surprise phone calls, dancing, karaoke, autographs, jokes, impersonations, photos, etc. The event runs from 5 p.m. to midnight.
3/8/06 - Goals For Success At Auburn Village School - Left wing Noah Clarke and center Connor James will speak to the fifth grade students at Auburn Village School on Wednesday, March 8 from 1:45 - 2:45 p.m. about setting and achieving goals as part of the Monarchs Goals For Success program.
3/8/06 - Monarchs Booster Club Meeting - Right wing Brad Smyth and goaltender Barry Brust will speak to members of the Manchester Monarchs Booster Club at the Manchester Elks Lodge on Wednesday, March 8 from 7-8 p.m.
3/12/06 - Monarchs Booster Club Bowling Event - Defenseman Denis Grebeshkov, center Greg Hogeboom, right wing Konstantin Pushkarev and right wing Lauri Tukonen will bowl at the Manchester Monarchs Booster Club's Annual Bowling Event at Lakeside Lanes from 12-1 p.m. on Sunday, March 12.
MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES
The Manchester Monarchs (35-21-2-4, 76 points) are in third place in the Atlantic Division behind the Hartford Wolf Pack (37-16-2-6, 82 points) and the Portland Pirates (38-15-5-3, 84 points).
This is the first time since January 7 that the Monarchs have not been in possession of second place in the Atlantic Division. Manchester dropped to third place following their 7-2 loss to the Providence Bruins on Sunday, February 26.
The club has sent 20 out of their 62 games into overtime and/or a shootout this season, winning 14 out of those 20 games.
Manchester is 9-4 in shootouts and 5-2 in overtime games this season.
The Monarchs were undefeated (4-0-0-0) on Sundays at home during the 2005-06 regular season.
Manchester is undefeated (12-0-0-0) when they score five or more goals.
When the Monarchs score only two goals, the team is 0-8-0-0 on the road and 1-11-0-1 overall.
With special teams, the Monarchs power play is ranked 26th in the League, capitalizing 50 times on 362 opportunities with the man advantage. Ranked 14th in penalty killing, Manchester has given up 66 goals on 387 opportunities.
Manchester has the lowest number of penalty minutes in the AHL with 993 penalty minutes, the only team below 1,000.
The Monarchs lead the AHL in attendance after 28 home games, averaging 8,551 fans per game.
Right wing Brad Smyth (27-36=63) leads the team with 27 goals, 36 assists and 63 points.
At 6-foot, 200-pounds and a native of Ottawa, Ontario, Smyth's 63 points are tied for 12th among the AHL's top scorers.
Smyth is tied for 10th in the AHL with a plus/minus of plus-17.
Left wing Jeff Tambellini is second in team scoring for the Monarchs with 56 points (25-31=56).
A former University of Michigan Wolverine, Tambellini is ranked third in the AHL among rookie scorers (56 points), ranked fourth among rookie goal scorers (25) and sixth among rookies in assists (31).
Tambellini is ranked fourth among AHL rookies and tied with Smyth for 10th in the AHL with his plus/minus of plus-17.
Defenseman Richard Petiot is tied for sixth among AHL rookies with a plus/minus of plus-14.
Right wing Petr Kanko is tied for fifth place in the AHL with three shorthanded goals on the season.
Goaltender Adam Hauser is in sole possession of 12th place among AHL goaltenders with 17 wins and 10th in the league with a 0.913 save-percentage.
The 6-foot-2, 194-pound native of Bovey, Minnesota, leads the league with a shootout record of 6-2.
Goaltender Barry Brust is tied for fifth place in the AHL with a 0.918 save-percentage and is ranked 11th with a 2.64 goals-against-average.
