Binghamton Senators News Release

LAST WEEK: Binghamton won at Syracuse on Saturday, their second straight road victory, but lost at home on Sunday to Manchester.

SATURDAY, MARCH 4TH @ SYRACUSE (4-2 W): Sens goalie KELLY GUARD stopped 36 of 38 shots and was named the game's first star as Binghamton beat the Crunch 4-2. BRANDON BOCHENSKI, DENIS HAMEL, LANCE WARD, and CHARLIE STEPHENS all scored for the Senators. Defenseman FILIP NOVAK and winger JEFF HEEREMA each tallied a pair of assists. After building a 3-0 lead, MARK HARTIGAN scored his 33rd goal of the season and extended his points streak to 13 games (12 goals, 11 assists). BOCHENSKI then increased the Senators lead back to three goals with his 19th tally of the season. Defenseman ANDY CANZANELLO finished the night's scoring at 3:32 of the third period with his seventh goal of the season. Both teams converted on two of seven power plays.

SUNDAY, MARCH 5TH vs. MANCHESTER (1-3 L): Manchester goalie BARRY BRUST stopped 38 of 39 shots with BRANDON BOCHENSKI flipping the only goal past him with less than two minutes remaining in regulation. DENIS GREBESHKOV scored first at 5:27 of the opening period with his team on the power play. Winger KONSTANTIN PUSHKAREV then gave the Monarchs all the scoring they would need at 16:41 of the second period with his 18th goal of the season. Binghamton finally broke through when BOCHENSKI made a great individual effort to get past the Monarch defense and flip the puck past BRUST. But the Monarchs ensured victory with an empty-net goal less than one minute later. The win broke a three-game winless streak for the Monarchs, who returned home after the game following a season-long six-game road trip. Both teams scored once on the power play with Manchester receiving four opportunities to Binghamton's five.

THIS WEEK: After playing just twice last week, the Senators will play four games in five nights this week.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8TH vs. NORFOLK (7:05 p.m.): Wednesday's game will be Norfolk's 11th straight away from home. They last played at Scope Arena in Norfolk on Feb. 17th. So far on the road trip, Norfolk is 4-3-2-1 and has lost two straight. After Wednesday's game, the Admirals return home for six of its next seven. DENIS HAMEL leads all players in the series with 11 points (7 goals, 4 assists) in six games. Norfolk owns a 5-1-0-0 advantage in the season series and has beaten the Sens three straight times at the Arena.

FRIDAY, MARCH 10TH @ MANCHESTER (7:35 p.m.): The Monarchs return home on Friday for the first time since Feb. 22. They concluded their season-high six-game road trip with a 3-1 win in Binghamton last Sunday. The Senators now lead the all-time series 3-2-0-0-0 (W-L-T-OTL-SOL).

SATURDAY, MARCH 11TH @ HARTFORD (7 p.m.): Binghamton's brief swing through New England continues on Saturday as the team makes its only appearance in Hartford this season. Binghamton won the first meeting of the season 6-5 on Nov. 11 behind a franchise-record five points (2 goals, 3 assists) from BRANDON BOCHENSKI and four points (2 goals, 2 assists) from DENIS HAMEL. Binghamton's last trip to Hartford was on March 1, 2003, a 5-1 victory for the Wolf Pack.

SUNDAY, MARCH 12TH @ WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (5:05 p.m.): The Penguins have won only twice in their last eight games, but continue to sit atop the East Division standings with 86 points and a 40-15-3-3 record. Binghamton and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will meet again only three days later in Binghamton. Center ERIK CHRISTENSEN leads the series in scoring with five points (1 goal, 4 assists). The Penguins have won all four meetings between the teams this season.

SENS SNIPPETS: DENIS HAMEL is only one game shy of tying the franchise record for regular season games played. CHRISTOPH SCHUBERT played in 216 games between 2002 and 2005. HAMEL is also only 13 games shy of 500 for his AHL career and his next goal will tie a franchise record for goals in a season. HAMEL had 39 last season, also a career high, to set the record...All but four of Binghamton's remaining 20 games are against teams that would make the playoffs if the season ended today....Binghamton recorded its fourth sellout of the season last night...Binghamton has scored a power-play goal in six straight games, scoring nine of 32 (28.1%) during the stretch.

SENS IN THE COMMUNITY: No appearances scheduled.
