The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will play four games in five days this week, sandwiching a pair of road contests between home games against the Syracuse Crunch and Binghamton Senators.

Wednesday, March 8 - Syracuse Crunch @ PENGUINS

NOTES:

The Penguins are 4-2-0-0 against the Crunch this season. Syracuse is 37-19-4-2 (80 points) and in second place in the North Division. The two teams will complete their season series on April 13 in Syracuse. Syracuse is one of the hottest teams in the AHL, having gained at least one point in 12 of the past 13 games (9-1-2-1). Syracuse's Mark Hartigan is fifth in the league with 33 goals and fourth overall with 73 points.

Friday, March 10 - PENGUINS @ Albany River Rats

NOTES:

The Penguins are 2-0-0-0 against the River Rats this season. Albany is 21-35-3-2 (46 points) and in seventh place in the Atlantic Division. The teams will complete their season series on March 25 in Wilkes-Barre.

Saturday, March 11 - PENGUINS @ Manchester Monarchs

NOTES:

The Penguins are 1-0-0-0 against the Monarchs this season. Manchester is 35-21-2-4 (76 points) and in third place in the Atlantic Division. Forward Brad Smyth is 12th in the league with 63 points (27+36).

Sunday, March 12 - Binghamton Senators @ PENGUINS

NOTES:

The Penguins are 4-0-0-0 against the Senators this season. This is the fifth of eight games between the teams. Denis Hamel is ninth overall with 67 points (38+29) and second with 38 goals. Binghamton is 24-30-3-3 (54 points) and in sixth place in the East Division.

PENGUINS SET TEAM RECORD FOR WINS IN A SEASON

The Penguins' 4-2 win against the Manchester Monarchs on Saturday night was the 40th of the season for the team, and set a new Wilkes-Barre/Scranton record for victories in a season. The previous mark of 39 wins was set by the 2004-05 squad.

The team record for points in a season is 92, also set by the 2004-05 team. The Pens are six points shy of tying that mark, with a possible 38 points still left on the schedule.

DEFENSE FIRST

The Penguins continue to have the fewest goals against in the AHL this season, having allowed just 134 goals through 61 games thus far (2.19 goals per game). The next closest team in the goals against column is the Manitoba Moose, who have allowed 162 goals in 62 contests (2.61 goals per game) as of March 6.

The Penguins team record for fewest goals allowed in a season is 197 (2.4625 goals per game), set during the 2003-04 campaign.

INDIVIDUAL LEAGUE LEADERS (all stats as of 03/02)

Dany Sabourin is first overall with a 2.17 goals against average, first with a .925 save percentage, tied for third with 24 wins and tied for second with three shutouts. Alain Nasreddine is second overall with a plus-22 rating. Dennis Bonvie is first overall with 301 penalty minutes. Matt Hussey is tied for fourth with six game-winning goals.

ATTENDANCE

The Penguins are averaging 8,158 fans per home game this season (236,597 in 29 games), 100.2% of capacity.
