Hartigan, Delmore Eying More Records

With his goal and assist on Saturday night against Binghamton, center Mark Hartigan is six points shy of tying Lonny Bohonos (1995-96) and Bill Bowler (2000-01) for most points in a season with 79. This past weekend defenseman Andy Delmore moved within two assists of Chris O'Sullivan (1999-00) for most assists by a defenseman at 47. He is also six points short of tying O'Sullivan and Radim Bicanek (2000-01) for most points by a defenseman (62).

ANOTHER RECORD DOWN: With two power play goals on Saturday, March 4, Syracuse set a franchise record for power play goals in a season, 92, breaking the old mark of 91 set in 1998-99.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END: This past weekend Syracuse had two streaks come to an end. Center Mark Hartigan's 11-game goal streak was broke on Friday, March 3 against Hershey, but he picked up where he left off on Saturday, March 4, tallying once against Binghamton. Syracuse's 12-game point streak was snapped on Saturday, March 4 with a 4-2 loss to Binghamton. During their 12-game point streak the Crunch posted a 9-0-2-1 record.

THIS WEEK'S OPPONENTS:

WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON (PITTSBURGH PENGUINS): Syracuse travels to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, March 8 for the seventh of eight regular season games. The Penguins lead the series 4-2-0 despite losing to the Crunch 4-3 at the War Memorial at Oncenter on February 22. Center Matt Hussey (4g, 5a) leads all players in head-to-head scoring with nine points. Crunch defenseman Andy Delmore (1g, 5a) leads the Crunch in head-to-head scoring with six points. Goaltenders Andrew Penner (1-1-0) and Martin Prusek (0-2-0) have split time in net for Syracuse. Penguins goaltender Dany Sabourin has posted a 2-1-0 record. Lifetime, the Crunch are 31-22-7 against the Penguins.

ROCHESTER (BUFFALO SABRES/FLORIDA PANTHERS): Syracuse plays two games against Rochester this weekend on Friday, March 10 at the War Memorial at Oncenter and Sunday, March 12 at BlueCross Arena for the seventh and eight of 12 regular season games. Syracuse leads the series 4-2-0 after shutting out Rochester 6-0 on February 11 at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Center Mark Hartigan (2g, 7a) leads all players in head-to-head scoring with nine points. Defenseman Nathan Paetsch (1g, 5a) and center Jiri Novotny (2g, 4a) leads all Amerks players in head-to-head scoring with six points. Goaltenders Mike Ayers (1-1-0) and Andrew Penner (2-0-0) have split time in net for Syracuse. Rochester goaltender Michael Leighton has a 1-4-0 record against Syracuse. Lifetime, the Crunch are 52-64-14 against the Senators.

TORONTO (TORNTO MAPLE LEAFS): The Marlies travel to Syracuse on Saturday, March 11 for the sixth of eight regular season meetings. Syracuse leads the series 3-2-0 after defeating Toronto 3-2 on February 19 at Ricoh Coliseum. Center Mark Hartigan (2g, 4a) leads all Crunch players in head-to-head scoring with six points. Center John Pohl (4g, 2a) and left wing Bates Battaglia (2g, 4a) leads all Toronto players in head-to-head scoring with six points. Goaltender Andrew Penner has appeared in three games for Syracuse with a 2-1-0 record. Toronto goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin has a 2-1-1 record against Syracuse. Lifetime, the Crunch are 3-2-0 against the Marlies.
