
Lowell's offense comes alive during 2-0 weekend

Saturday, Monsters 5 vs. Norfolk 3
Lowell rolled up four goals in the first period, including three on the power play, and held on for a 5-3 win over the Norfolk Admirals. Keith Aucoin had two goals and an assist and Andrew Ladd notched a goal and two assists. Craig Kowalski stopped 26 shots for his second victory in a row. The Lock Monsters finished the season series 2-1-0-1 against Norfolk.
Sunday, Monsters 6 vs. Albany 0
Krys Kolanos and Paul Healey each scored twice and Keith Aucoin had three helpers in a 6-0 triumph over the Albany River Rats. Kolanos also added a pair of assists en route to earning the game's first star. Vitaly Kolesnik had his easiest of three shutouts on the season, stopping 15 shots for the win.
Where we stand
The Monsters gained four points in the standings, and reached the 60-point plateau on the season. Providence's lead over Lowell is now six points in the Atlantic Division, after they came from behind for a 3-2 shootout win against Hershey on Sunday. The Bruins have played three less games than Lowell, and three games remain between the two in the season series.
Monsters Memos
- Keith Aucoin pulled within seven points of the franchise record of 77, set by Eric Staal last season. He managed six points in two games this weekend, and has 10 points in his last three outings.
- Vitaly Kolesnik became the first goalie for the Monsters this season to notch a point, with an assist on Sunday afternoon.
- Paul Healey had 2g-3a-5pts in two games this weekend. He now has eight multiple point games in his last 14 contests.
- Lowell tied a franchise record by allowing only 15 shots on Sunday. The previous occurrence was on January 20th, 2002 against Cleveland.
- Lowell's power play went 6-for-16 this weekend and has climbed four slots in the league ranking in the last week (13th).
- LW Andrew Ladd was recalled to the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday.
- Recently signed forward Scott Kelman (from the Gwinnett Gladiators), had a point in each of his games last weekend, including a goal on Sunday against Albany.

Coming Up:
The Monsters will host the Hershey Bears and former Lock Monster Colin Forbes this Wednesday night at Tsongas Arena. Game time is 7:05 p.m. It's the first of two meetings between the clubs this season, with both coming during March.
After road games on Friday in Providence (7:05 p.m.) and Albany on Saturday (5:00 p.m.), Lowell returns to Tsongas Arena on Sunday to host the Springfield Falcons at 4:05 p.m. There is also a fundraiser during the game to benefit The Jimmy Fund. After the game Sunday, there's a free public skate for everyone in attendance. Fans are welcome to bring their skates to the game and hit the ice; complimentary skate rental is available. It's also a Louie's Little Monsters Kid's Club Game. All members of the LLM Kid's Club receive free admission with their registration fee of $20, and with three Sunday home games remaining on the schedule, signing up your Little Monster is still a great deal!
