MANCHESTER, NH – The Manchester Monarchs have released defenseman Mat Snesrud from his professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today. Snesrud, 26, appeared in one game with the Monarchs this season, recording zero points and two penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound native of Cloquet, Minnesota, has also appeared in 28 games with the Monarchs ECHL affiliate, the Reading Royals this season, scoring nine points (4-5=9) and recording 19 penalty minutes.

Snesrud, a seventh-round selection (181st overall) of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, appeared in 29 games with the Monarchs during the 2002-03 season, scoring three points (0-3=3) and registering 12 penalty minutes. He has appeared in 43 career AHL regular season games with the Monarchs and the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, totaling three points (0-3=3) and 18 penalty minutes.

The Monarchs host the Providence Bruins tonight, Friday, January 2 at 7:35 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Tonight is Richard Seeley Photo Night. All fans attending tonight's game will receive a free Monarchs 8x10 photo card of Richard Seeley, courtesy of the New Hampshire Tobacco Prevention and Control Program. Seeley will personally sign one of the cards. The person with the autographed card and a guest will have a chance to meet Seeley after tonight's game.
